Yeah she definitely took one for the team this season. Teams target her in serve receive because she's definitely a weaker passer, but it could really be a lot worse for the huskies. I agree. She goes out there knowing she's a serving target and playing out of position. I think it's courageous. I mean y’all are acting like she went from a middle to libero. She was a DS/OH who has passed her entire life. All that’s really different is left back... |

I mean, Crenshaw's spent most of her time at UW as a DS. Libero isn't that big of a change, and what she's struggled with the most (SR) isn't a new skill she was asked to do for the first time. She's been resilient, we can say that much. That one weekend where they needed her to rotate into the front she had a really great match against USC and a pretty good one against UCLA. She's not a bad OH -- she's just been stacked up behind a bunch of All-Americans like Bajema and Drechsel and Hoffman. |

No matter if she's passed in the past or not, its alot different. You have different roles leadership wise and different responsibilities. The pressure the second you put on the jersey is so much different then the DS pressure. You stick out and obviously everybody is going to expect you to be the best passer. Idc what she did before then it's still really great of her to be so openminded and resilient. UW wouldn't have made the FF let alone the tournament without her stepping up and making improvements all the time. Not to mention left back defense is alot different then middle back (all this is coming from a DS/L)

She's been resilient, we can say that much. She came to UW, all the way from Florida, as a prospective six-rotation OH in the same class as Powell, Hoffman, Grote, and Cole. She had a shoulder injury her freshman season that delayed her development as a hitter, and has largely been relegated to playing backrow since. At the start of this season, Cook started her outside, with Houghton at libero, and Endsley on the bench, while playing a 6-2 (due to Powell's knee) with Drechsel and Grote as the OPPs. Then ASU happened. Houghton had played sparingly as a freshman, and had been an OH in HS and Club. I think that Cook felt he needed to get more power in the frontrow, steadier hands in the backrow, and to drop the 6-2. |

Though I don’t think this will happen, I’d like to see Ella force grote when she’s off the net. She’s been good offensively and it’d help to spread the block too.
