May finished 11-2-29 (.310) She had 8 receptions for 38% positive passing.
Lanier was 7-7-30. She had 26 receptions for 58% positive.
Aces and blocks really were the story.... Scandicci finished with 12 aces and 9 blocks. Compared to 6 (4 in the first set) and 3 for Bergamo

May received 8 times and 4 of them were reception errors. Lanier played as passing opposite to cover May most of the time and had 4 errors on 26 passes. Libero had 5 errors on 21 passes. Maybe they should try 4 women passing system like 90's Cuba NT. It's a bit concerning to have this many errors with the molten ball.

that really is. Wonder where she’ll go now She’ll probably transfer to Scandicci (Orthmann’s replacement).

From what I saw, I don't remember May shanking any passes (but I didnt get to watch the 4th set)... most of them looked like communication errors to me.. I'd say at least 6 of the aces were communication errors, which is to be expected when adding someone new to the rotation (also Orthmann and Antropova served really well)

I dont think anyone expects her to be a world-beater right now.

I was just verifying that there was at least one time where she just shanked a ball that was hers. I thought she had a GREAT debut.

In Italian league, you can see many times that the number of aces and reception errors don't match. (check the the stats from first part of the season)
The reason: if a player touches the ball, even it's an error, it is not an ace. To count it as ace, it shouldn't touch any player.

Her defence really surprised me today. She seems to have a gift there. I expected her passing to be better, but given that it's her first pro-match and it's against Scandicci, I think I should be more patient.

She's almost as tall as the door frame.
