Chieri-Busto has an american commentating.... never heard him before That was me! I filled in with about a day's notice for another commentator who was sick. Fun match between Busto and Chieri, having Americans on both teams definitely helped me out. Frantti was awesome. Chieri crushed the serve-pass battle. Busto just didn't really have it today, but no cause for alarm in my opinion. I'll be doing more matches throughout the regular season, mostly men's, but hopefully some more women's matches that have Americans on the teams. Nice work, Rob!

Evidently Scandicci might be in a mess. Antropova has something going on (my Italian is rough and I can’t translate it right now) where her Italian designation/citizenship is being questioned (she’s also Russian) kwt do you know any specifics?

It’s a matter of FIRST enrollment (or registration? I don’t know how do you call it in English) as volleyball player. She was allowed to play as Italian because her FIRST enrollment/registration as volleyball player has been made here, in Italy, by an Italian club. That is what everybody knew about it. Now it turns out that when she was a kid, in Russia, she was enrolled/registered as volleyball player as well. She also was invited by the Russian youth NT for a tryout (tho she never played a single game and left the tryout after few days). If this is true, if her first enrollment/registration is Russian, she is not allowed to play as a local player anymore (and she shouldn’t have been allowed in the past season either).

Not that I can cite the rule from memory, but my understanding with FIVB is it matters about registration as a senior player (i.e., youth/junior stuff doesn't count against someone)

What we know is that Scandicci didn’t put her on the game list, last Sunday. That means that there’s some problem about it, about her registration as Italian. The president of Sassuolo (= the club that registered her as Italian) says that he received certifications from Russia about her "non-registration" there. But according to CEV she has a first Russian registration. It’s a very strange story.

Actually, it would be unfortunate to get caught up on a technicality from her youth days.

There's always a messy team in each league.
