According to dal15al25.gazzetta.it/2021/11/14/antropova-e-russa-la-fivb-ha-deciso/?refresh_ce FIVB gave the final sentence: Ekaterina Antropova has a Russian first registration, so she cannot play as local (Italian) anymore. Now she'll have to wait for the official international transfer. I hope it doesn't take too long. I'm curious about the possible consequences. I mean, she played few games for Scandicci + the whole past season for Sassuolo as Italian and she hadn't the right to do it. It seems that the past results won't be changed, but maybe someone is not OK about that. We'll see. Russia is gonna be so good |

This (in my opinion) is the interesting part: "According to the Gold Sport agency, which follows the interests of the player, in Russia the 2003 class player would have participated (when she was very young) only in tournaments organized by the Ministry of Education, and never in federal competitions. Furthermore, the FIVB decision would not take into account the existence of a letter written by the Russian Federation confirming that Antropova has never been registered in that country. The agency has announced that it will challenge the decision of the FIVB and it is also waiting for an official position from the Italian Volleyball Federation, which has never intervened on the subject so far." Scandicci will surely have to wait for the final determination of the FIVB in order to understand the status of the player and to get organized in the best way. Antropova's fate, however, depends on the player herself. There are many well-known examples: Leal, Leon, Goncharova, Boskovich, Brankica Mihajlović who, when they were young, played in tournaments not of the nation in which they play as "seniors". So much ado about nothing?

This is the final text of the FIVB document that confirms that the player is to be considered of first Russian enrollment in line with the purpose of Article 2.4.1 of the Rules, which recognizes that the first federation to contribute to the development of a player is his Federation of origin. In light of the above, the FIVB decides as follows: The Federation of origin of Ms. Ekaterina Antropova is the Russian Volleyball Federation (VFR). The Federation of origin of Ms. Ekaterina Antropova shall be updated to the Volleyball Federation of Russia on the international membership system. The player must obtain an International Transfer Certificate (ITC) to play volleyball in Italy. It is mandatory to regularize the missing ITCs for the following seasons: 2018-2019 Season; 2019-2020 Season; 2020-2021 Season; 2021-2022 Season. Finally, the FIVB emphasizes that Ms. Ekaterina Antropova is free to submit an application to Change Federation of Origin under Article 5 of the FIVB 2020 Sports Regulations. An appeal may be filed against this decision exclusively before the FIVB Appeals Committee, in accordance with the FIVB Disciplinary Regulations. |
