Caffey will be one of the starting middles regardless if Stivrins is back or not. It's not even debatable.

What the heck kind of a response is it on a public message board to say, “it is not debatable”. That’s silly, ignorant and a little frightening. Gifu

Just not enough vball experience to crack the starting line up. I hope she develops quickly but a poor fall and it might be time for her to turn to her focus on the discus and 2024/2028. Zuhn is not in the picture. Even middle.

I will be shocked if Caffey won't start.

It all depends upon what the Mad Scientists (coaching staff) come up with. They have got to be so eager to get in to that gym. Kinda gauche and fun to consider, but what are your thoughts on this lineup? S: Hames OPP: Sun L1: Batenhorst (DS: Knuckles) L2: Krause (DS: Kubik) M1: Schwarzenbach (SS: Akana) M2: Caffey L: Rodriguez RO1: Sun, Caffey, and Batenhorst are in the front row, and Kubik would be in the back row to run the pipe. On s/o, we would have Batenhorst on the right and Sun on the left, so termination shouldn’t be an issue. RO2 & RO3: Rodriguez and Knuckles would steady the back row with 3 attackers at the net. Perhaps Knuckles could revive her back-row attack from club and high school. Maybeee kidding. 😃 RO4: Schwarzenbach and Krause are in the front row, and Sun could be hidden in serve-receive with 3 steady passers (Rodriguez, Knuckles, and Krause) and ready for the pipe or D-ball, so opposing teams’ block can’t stack against our left. RO5: Offensively, this may be the “weakest” front-row with Batenhorst and Schwarzenbach, but Kubik and Sun would both be in the back row. Sun could stay hidden in a 2-person serve-receive, as 2 of the team’s best passers (Rodriguez and Kubik) would be on the court. As L1, Batenhorst would be hitting against the other team’s setter and less of a blocking liability. With creativity, she also wouldn’t need to pass in her front-row rotations. RO6: For the attack, Caffey and Batenhorst are in the front row with Sun and Kubik in the back row. Akana could serve for Schwarzenbach, and being the last rotation on the dial, there would be a lesser risk of running out of subs toward the end of games if we always start in RO1. You've given this a lot of thought. I just don't see Coach Cook starting three freshmen right off.

I'd be shocked if Caffey doesn't crack the starting line up either. The question is if she's MB1 or not. She might be better offensively, but a Caffey-Hames blocking combo is very undersized.

Everybody just giving opinions. Huskerjen does seem to have inside info at times. My thoughts: I think good chance Caffey, Swartzenbach and Meyer will all see playing time depending upon whether they need blocking or hitting. OH and OPP players may switch. Both Sun and Krause have demonstrated ability at both positions. That switch should make it harder for opponents to key in on tendencies. Krause can really hit hard and Batenhorst no slouch. Seems both may see playing time.
