Sheffield singled out Smrek as someone making a big push for playing time, so I can see her getting on the court……I just don’t know how. I can see her anchoring the right side and having Robinson move into the mix at middle on the assumption Smrek’s lateral movement isn’t as good as Devyn, Hart & Rettke. Orzol looks great at the U20 level, but to ask her to step in as a starter in the B1G after a full jr national team season, and maybe 30 days of practice in Madison is a huge ask. She is a great candidate for a red-shirt given all the changes she’ll be dealing with. I see her on the left for her Badger career, especially if that 6’0” list height is accurate. Having a RS that cannot take OOS swings is not ideal against the best teams - as Wisconsin learned in the tournament. What? Our RS was an all tourney selection and excellent in and out of system.

I am a bit tired and simultaneously anxious for the next 4.5 weeks to pass (Scrimmage at Field House) and wanting time to slow down (enjoying summer).

Loberg has improved her OOS play, but it is definitely not dependable. If you take Sheff at his word that a key priority is improving OOS play, then Orzoł and Demps both seem a more natural fit. But it will be a different environment for Orzoł in Madison. I still feel Sheff will definitely hesitate to bench Loberg. Agree. I see no circumstance where she isn't the starter at the beginning of the season.

Vegas just hosted GJNC & Orlando hosted AAUs. IIRC there was a big tourney in Louisville recently as well. Juniors beach nationals were at Fort Lauderdale this year July 10-15, Siesta Key is right across the state from there and is home to OTVA (tampa which is where Siesta key is located. Louisville had JVA world challenge June 11-13 which I can confirm he was at with Brit He was also at both nationals - saw him at USAV and a parent of one of our other teams told me they talked with him at AAU

I saw Hart at a women's hockey game a few years ago and I thought it was Rettke for a minute; she's not that much shorter than her!!

Looks like Haggerty will be playing professionally in the Italian 2nd division (Serie A2) this coming year.

Very excited for Molly. It’s the same league Gilly plays in. Molly’s team is up north near Venice, while Gilly’s is in Sicily.

Feel like I heard Siesta Key a couple of times. That is next to Sarasota, for those who are unfamiliar. Did a quick search of the board here for 'Siesta Key'. Looks like someone named Jordyn Byrd is a recruit from Siesta Key. Whether that is the reason for his visit, I do not know. She is a 2023 RS, which does not exactly strike me as a need with everyone on board and coming in over the next couple of classes. I heard Louisville a couple of times. Vegas and Orlando a few times as well. Siesta Key is the one I was thinking. Just jumped out at me because it's not a place we typically hear from, so the assumption is there is someone special there. Thanks for the fill-in! To close the loop on this discussion a bit, the UW Volleyball beat writer just retweeted this, which would be why Sheffield spent a fair amount of time in Siesta Key. I think Siesta Key Juniors is the club she plays on:

Yeah I saw that. I'm not sure I've seen a volleyball player announce their shortlist before, so I wasn't sure what to make of it.

A little surprised we don't see more of the shortlist announcements nowadays. Hope the whole hat ceremony thing doesn't drift into volleyball though.

I'm not used to knowing to whom Sheffield has made offers. We normally don't know until after they have accepted, or when we learn about an official visit via instagram and such. I kind of like it that way because then I don't have to be disappointed when offered players commit to another team.
All that being said, what do we know about Jordyn Byrd as a vball player?
