I'm trying to make sense of some numbers here the stats don't seem to add up to me. Maybe someone can help me out. In Texas's lone loss which was against Baylor, Texas out hit Baylor .353 to .281 and yet lost. Texas also out blocked by a large margin. The only stat Baylor out played Texas was in digs. In their other meeting in order for Texas to win they had to out hit Baylor by a whopping .410 to .281. Again Texas was basically even or ahead in every category except digs. It would seem that the key for UW to beating Texas is keeping the hitting differential down to ~.60 or under and having a career day in the digging department. Bays better have her soccer shoes on for this one. It was also funny how Baylor's blocking game was non-existent in both matches. I would think UW would offer something much better and could make blocking a factor. Texas made 20 service errors in that loss to Baylor. it'll come down to serve/pass, as usual

Texas backcourt is back to classic Texas from what I've seen. Washington is physical enough to get hands on *some* of those OH swings. You gotta serve them tough to avoid getting beat up by their middles. Texas is a really tough serving team but luckily Washington has experience playing an OOS game and I don't really think that would throw you off too much. And abuse the Gabriel block whenever you can.
I'm rooting for you, dawgs lol

Does anyone know yet whether either of UW's games in Seattle will be televised? I didn't see anything on the UW gohuskies site, and the TV listings thread for the tournament hasn't appeared yet. I won't be able to see the matches in person unfortunately.
FWIW, Brown and UW are two of the four institutions of higher learning I've attended, and I even played men's club volleyball at Brown. I was rooting for Brown against USC last week but my allegiance can only extend so far . . .

The last few years pretty much all subregional matches have been televised, but usually behind the paywalls of the host team network. So my assumption is that if you have the PAC-12 Network, you are probably good to go. Also in years past, Hawaii has independently covered the Hawaii matches.

I made a spreadsheet for common opponents (Arizona and Stanford) against Texas. I know, I know, one match at a time, but it's hard to resist... lo

Might only need to scout Mississippi State since the know-it-all’s on the continent who follow volleyball have already placed them in the second round.

If things go as plotted by the esteemed committee, UW has a robust path to the title: Brown - Hawaii - Texas - Kentucky - Pitt - Louisville. They're on an 8-match win streak, don't see why they can't do six more.

I like Mississippi State, they’ve had a good season in a good conference. Let’s see how they do under the bright lights, playing on the other side of the country in their first ever NCAA match.

I like UW's chances IF (big IF) they can get past Texas. Not sure anyone on the current UW team has played in a place like Gregory....which is like Pullman on Steroids.
