Does anyone have any thoughts on the guest hosts and eventual replacement for the late, great Alex Trebek? I watched the last couple of shows that Aaron Rodgers did, and I was pleasantly surprised. I'm a fan of Rodgers anyway (despite him beating my Steelers in the Super Bowl--he's just really hard not to like), but he did way better than I was expecting. He honestly sounded like Trebek. He has a different voice, of course, but he had the mannerisms and timing down pat. Apparently, he put in a ton of work (literally watching game tape like he would in the NFL) to prepare. And I liked his use of humor and interactions with the contestants. Judging by what I've seen online, a lot of Jeopardy fans who don't even like sports also thought he did one of the better jobs, if not the best.

LeVar Burton is the only logical choice.

I definitely look forward to seeing how Burton performs in his two-week stint later this summer.

LeVar Burton is the only logical choice. I was happy to see them give him a guest host spot, and I wouldn't be surprised if he does a great job. but I don't consider him to be "the only logical choice". I think there are plenty of people that could do a good job. However, some of the guest hosts that they've had so far, I wasn't a big fan of and I don't know if I would continue to watch the show if they were given the long-term hosting gig. (while others, I'd be alright with)

I wouldn't want to award the job to anyone without a tryout to see how they handle it. I look forward to seeing how Burton does. Joe Buck, not so much. It's bad enough that he ruins the World Series every year.

I thought this was an excellent article about the Jeopardy guest hosts.

My vote is for either Mike Richards, the executive producer who Fifa couple weeks, or Ken Jennings just based on their connection to the show.
As for Rodgers I heard that he would try to still play football and land the full time gig, but we shall see.

I'll have to check out some of Richards' shows if I can find them, as I've heard good things. As for Jennings...meh. He's certainly the most famous player and arguably the best, but I don't think Michael Jordan would be a better broadcaster than Charles Barkley. I don't know. There's something about Jennings that has always rubbed me the wrong way. For lack of a better word, he just comes off as smarmy. I don't think I'd watch Jeopardy again if he gets the job.

I thought this was an excellent article about the Jeopardy guest hosts. That was an interesting read. I'm glad I'm not the only one that disliked Oz. And it is interesting to learn that players have to pay for their own travel and lodging. I wonder if they can deduct those expenses from their winnings income when it comes to calculating the taxes they have to pay on those winnings.

As an aside, the Packers are screwed. This is what they get for trading up to draft Aaron Rodgers' presumed replacement without telling Rodgers and failed to draft a wide receiver in a draft that saw like 500 (don't remember the exact number) wide receivers taken in the first three rounds. Whether they trade him or not, he can just retire if he has to and walk right into the Hall of Fame and maybe onto the Jeopardy set. No one to blame but themselves.

I think it's pretty obvious that Rodgers was good at Jeopardy (you don't need to take Rapoport's word for it--in this article, Jeopardy producer Mike Richards praised Rodgers for his "unbelievable" preparation), and he's clearly in the right vs. the Packers.

I wonder if they can deduct those expenses from their winnings income when it comes to calculating the taxes they have to pay on those winnings. I assume they can. But if you win a lot of money, it's probably best to hire a tax lawyer to help you deal with it. First place gets you the money you won with. Second place gets you $2000. Third place gets you $1000. $1000 may be enough to cover your expenses for going onto the show, but also it may not be enough. Apparently the average winner gets about $19,000 (factoring in that some only win once, while others go on a run of wins).
