LeVar Burton is the only logical choice. Why is LeVar Burton the only logical choice ?

My vote is for either Mike Richards, the executive producer who Fifa couple weeks, or Ken Jennings just based on their connection to the show. As for Rodgers I heard that he would try to still play football and land the full time gig, but we shall see. Update : according to an article in the 8/6 Seattle times Mike Richards is indeed the front runner to land the full time gig. Personally given his familiarity with the show and knowing the ropes he was my first choice. From what I read the public doesn't like this,. But I got tired of all the celebrity hosts.. I'm sure if you Google jeopardy you will find some news.

I enjoyed the variety of the guest hosts.
And I was definitely looking forward to LeVar's stint, but unfortunately I think nerves got the best of him and he didn't perform all that well. He only got one week to host (as was the case with that last few guest hosts), and I believe a week's worth of shows are taped in a single day, so he didn't really get a chance to settle in.
Mike did an alright job, I suppose, but it is just a boring choice. And there have been some allegations and lawsuits involving discrimination and the like involving him (directly or indirectly).
I would have enjoyed some diversity by choosing a woman and/or a person of color. I enjoyed Mayim Bialik's guest hosting stint, and wouldn't have minded her as permanent host (but maybe she wasn't even interested in a long-term gig with the show). I'll probably continue watching Jeopardy (at least occasionally) if Richards gets the gig, just because I enjoy the show itself, but I'm not a big fan of him in particular. And I don't know if I can stand a week of Joe Buck guest hosting, so I might skip some of the shows next week.

LeVar Burton is the only logical choice. Why is LeVar Burton the only logical choice ? LeVar did okay, his speech patterns were a little jumpy and if you answered the question correctly, the time it took for him to say "correct" was a lil bit too long, IMHO. I really wanted Ken Jennings. Mike Richards, to me, is not homey enough, too robotic. You can't please everyone.

Hmm, I was hoping for Aaron Rodgers to be honest, but Richards is at least better than Jennings, who I can't stand.

Boring choice sure. But I think for a show like jeopardy the host should be boring. I almost thought all these celebrity gigs became more about them than the contestants. Trebek always said the players are the stars. And I really dislike Joe Buck so I haven't watched at all this week, do you know any other sports broadcaster who always has to remind the viewers what year it is? The fill in the year World Series or super bowl.

I read that Richards is the permanent host for daily syndication, but Mayim Bialik is the permanent host for primetime special events and also possibly a spinoff series.

"permanent host for primetime special events" doesn't necessarily mean much. They've had like all of ONE primetime special event in the past decade or so.

Yeah, well, I've seen a few comments along those lines that are calling this basically just cover for the fact that they realized they were making a very unpopular decision. I'm sure it's purely a coincidence that as Executive Producer of the show, Richards was one of the people involved in making the decision that the new host should be ... Richards.

I suppose it is possible that it could have been a situation similar to how if a representative on an NCAA playoff selection committee has their own school in contention for a particular at-large spot or whatever, that committee member supposedly is not allowed to take part in the vote/discussion for that spot. But I'm not holding my breath on that. The Sony staff that run the show could have easily just named the new host right after Trebek's passing, and no one would have made that big of a deal about it. I had actually figured a year or so ago when they named Ken Jennings as "consulting producer" or whatever, that they were setting him up to take over once Trebek was done. Which wouldn't have really been any different than Richards becoming the new host. After all, they're both producers of the show. Personally, I enjoyed the idea of the guest host rotation to wrap up the season after Alex died. Provided a nice variety (not saying that I enjoyed all the guest hosts, but I liked the concept in general)

Oh, I am not at all convinced that NCAA committee members are uninvolved in making sure their own teams get positions in tournaments, despite that they supposedly are "out of the room" when their team is discussed.

I suspect he is the standby, backup plan if anything goes wrong with Richards.

Jeopardy showing repeat episodes with Alex still hosting. Ken Jennings is almost at $2 million. Strange (on my tv) the recording screen is smaller than my screen size? Does this say they recorded in analog?
