UCLA has got to develop Ndiaye into a 6 rotation RS. Hide her in SR and have her attack the D and Bic in the back row. UCLA has not seen that kind of athletic talent since .... idk when. No shade to Mac May she’s a great all around player but I could see Ndiaye as that Yossiania type of go to player in the future. Ndiaye is a special player but Luper is more like Yoss. The two of them will have 4 years together. Luper is not very tall though right?

Still either way a lot of the time for some reason Sealy always at the end of the season goes back to running a 6-2. Not true. 2017 - Sponcil in a 5-1. 2018 - Miller or Chang, depending on the day, in a 5-1. 2019 it was supposed to be Thomspon, but she got hurt and then they went to a 6-2 because Gates transferred out and they had no one to run the slide. That last part may need some clarification to its accuracy by @bigwestfan2.

But, in 2018 throughout the beginning of the year Sealy made them run a 6-2 with Miller and Chang. Down the long stretch of 2018.. is when he decided to run a 5-1.

That last part may need some clarification to its accuracy by @bigwestfan2. Yes, a 5-1 with Thompson was the plan before she hurt her ankle. With the lack of a strong slide hitter (Gates) and Chang being a short way setter, a 5-1 would not have been effective in 2019.

In 2019, they started their first game with Miller in a 5-1, but then Sealy swapped to Chang when they were down. The next game, he did the opposite: started with Chang, then went to Miller. He did that all season. Muno was the libero, occasionally being replaced by Simo. Gates and Rogers in the middle. May, Mosser, and Light were on the pins. Light's DS was Simo or Muno. Sometimes, when Light was on a bad streak, Sealy would play Harrer at OPP. She wasn't effective either. May had to move to 3-rotations at the end of the year because she had a broken finger/thumb. Aigner-Swesey was the DS. Light finally got benched and Sealy put in Ryan. After Sealy saw how dominant Ryan was, he moved her to the middle and Rogers to OPP. By then, Miller was the main setter because she had the better connection with Ryan/Gates. There was never a 6-2 with Miller and Chang. Who was the 2nd OPP/4th pin if they ran a 6-2?

I love Ndiaye, but she will have to improve her out of system attack and success rate with the non perfect sets. Ndiaye did not play 6 Rots at TAV her entire career there so that would be a big leap. Does Sealy have the patience to let her develop that skill set? History shows no.

She still has room to grow but I think you'll see Ndiaye getting more OOS sets in the fall.

She was unstoppable with good coaching and patience she will be a force... all I’m saying is she has the potential.

Even though she wasn't playing at her highest level, she was still very good. When they needed her, she stepped up.

I'd like Sealy to consider Luper in a role similar to Tealer at Kentucky, especially since UCLA already has May, McCall and Ndiaye at the pins. UCLA is in need of improving its middles. Alupei will help at MB. I don't think you'll see Luper playing middle. She will compete at OH/DS with May, McCall & Jacobs.

Girl can jump, but teams would feast at the seam if she was playing middle.

I'm just saying that if Luper doesn't get playing time because of who is ahead of her, Sealy should consider her at MB because she would probably be better than of most of them, except Alupei.

This is way over simplifying it. Tealer was there to diversify the offense. She got some solid touches on the block, but she wasn’t an elite blocker... not even close. It worked for Kentucky, but they had lilley to better any ball and fling it to either pin or the middle who could score. I don’t think it works for everyone else. Kentucky won because they had enough offensive power to keep up. Texas still hit over .300, most of UW’s hitting errors were balls out or in the net, not blocks (tealer had 2 blocks in 4 sets). Just saying “well Tealer was a MB” really doesn’t tell the whole story.

Luper is the future of the program at OH. Her development on the left is too important to put her at MB for a year. With Alupei as M1 and either Jacobs or Luper able to hit out of the backrow as the DS, they wouldn't need much offense from the other middle.
