This is the starting lineup I would like to see, based off the suspected roster.
OH : Mac May , Élan McCall OPP : Iman Ndiaye, Allison Jacobs S : Kate Lane MB : Francesca Alupei, Anna Dodson L : Zoe Fleck
I was going to put Devon Chang as the setter, but does anybody know if she is still injured? I heard it was a bad injury and to be fair I do see Kate Lane having potential. As for the opposite position, I put Iman Ndiaye in the front hitting until they get her as a full rotation opposite. Taking her place in the back row is Allison Jacobs. I feel like Allison will be able to provide a solid amount of defense and will still be able to provide offense from the back row.
I feel like regardless tho Sealy may still continue the 6-2 just due to the amount of talent he has on his roster. Also he may want to have these younger players get experience throughout the year.
Lane as the sole setter for UCLA? Ummm...that is definitely a choice. Lane is not a bad setter and if you would've read my reasoning.. I said i was going to put Devon Chang but idk if she is not injured anymore

If you want UCLA to be a Final Four team, however, she's not the setter you want running a 5-1. I know a transfer was supposed to be in the works, but nothing has been announced yet. Hopefully something is soon.

Any information on the possible veteran setter transfer to UCLA? Could UCLA do a coach swap with another team? +100 Sealy should get fired after this past season. Still trying to understand why a 6-2 was even an option at the beginning of the year, let alone after Chang's injury.

she’s actually closer to 5’8. Maybe even 5’7 as the other poster assumed. I mean maybe she is 5'8 without shoes, but I am pretty sure with shoes she is 5'9". I don't believe UCLA would post false info on her signing post. Literally every team in every sport exaggerates height, especially for players considered undersized for their position. Blossom at Penn State is not a hair above 5'7" but is listed at 5'9" on their website.

1. If they run a 5-1 (they should) I'd like to see Ndiaye play 6 rotations. Opposites can hit out of the backrow successfully, and May/McCall/Fleck are good enough to hold down the passing. 2. "Sealy may still continue the 6-2 just due to the amount of talent he has on his roster" -- huh? You mean the 2 freshmen walk-on setters?

You guys got a good setter, be interesting to see if they run a 6-2. Martin set for Carter at KSU, who went to the same high school as Mac May.

Any information on the possible veteran setter transfer to UCLA? Shelby Martin - I’m not seeing how this is an upgrade from Chang (as someone mentioned earlier that they knew who it was and she can run a 5’1. Here’s my breakdown - She definitely has a fast tempo set to the outside on a perfect pass. She only jumps sets sometimes and can NOT block. Her height is probably closer to 5’7 - not 5’11. She was ranked 5th out of 10 setters in the B12 with 2 of the better setters in the conference being hurt for half the season which affected their stats. She got swapped out for the other sophomore setter in many games who had finger injury or hand injury for most of the season. She got accolades for having a triple double against a weak discombobulated team that was on a down hill slide since their top setter opted not to play this covid season. Yes she is a lefty and can swing on the second but it is very readable and barely goes over the tape. Sorry not trying to sound critical but I’m not getting this to me once again Sealy is taking just another and another setter. Was there even a scholarship available or is she a walk on? How does a team even practice with 4 setters? Doesn’t seem like there would be much time to develop a connection?

^Hater.
Martin will #Rocket UCLA to a top-3 PAC finish and keep Sealy off the hot seat.

Even your 'positive' for Martin is nonsense. "She has a fast tempo set to the outside on a perfect pass" - K-State didn't even run a fast offense. Martin has great hands (although a slower release), nice location on her back sets and makes good choices in transition. Her floor defense is solid, her blocking will need to improve but size is not the issue. She is a good get for UCLA.
