Makes sense. So when people are talking about this screwing over the 2022s for recruiting, they mean because the 2021s may all decide to redshirt their freshman season (fall 2021) to leave room for the "COVID seniors" (seniors in the 2020-21 school year) who may return for an extra season? And then that will create a logjam and make it so teams have fewer roster spots & scholarships for the 2022s during their career? That plus the five years for everyone who wants it. There will probably be a lot more grad transfers in the next few years. So you're competing against the ppl your coach recruits in high school plus the ppl in the portal who are interested in transferring to your program. Except for next season, the scholarship cap doesn't change but the number of players will go up. Something has to give. If coaches hold back a scholarship (or two) for potential transfers, that's one (or two) fewer they can give to high school players.

Skinner to Baylor is a major downgrade. She could play for any team in the country. She could have gone to PSU. What makes you think Penn State is currently a better program than Baylor? What makes you think it's not? If we are talking about the strength of programs, there is absolutely no comparison between Penn State and Baylor. Baylor has had a couple of good seasons, but they haven't won anything yet.

It will be interesting to see if Baylor can keep getting top recruits and transfers. If girls are walking away from a program because of perceived race issues, it seems like a lot of them may want to think twice about it openly homophobic university like Baylor. I mean, I’d never go to Liberty.

General trajectories of the programs and results over the past two years. “They haven’t won anything yet” is a silly measure. Is Long Beach ahead of Florida as a program? Her experience at Kentucky pretty definitively showed her that having won a title previously doesn’t mean much. I’m mostly playing devils advocate. I’d probably say Penn State is a better program at this moment. But it’s not like she’s going to Indiana. Baylor is a premier volleyball program and a place where she can win a national championship.

Two years? What kind of a poppycock metric is that? Gonna need more than 2 years to define the strength of a program. Baylor has had a couple of good seasons and some recent recruiting success but the notion that they are a premier volleyball program at this point is laughable. Stanford, Nebraska, even Texas... those are premier programs. Long Beach State is not ahead of Florida but at least that program has won a National Title. Heck they've won a bunch of them. That said, I'd consider Florida a premier program too as they've been in the mix for decades.

Baylor is an institution that openly hates and discriminates against LGBTQ peoples. I shall therefore always cheer for its intercollegiate athletics teams to fail in competition.
Is that reasonably classy?

Is that reasonably classy? Nope. Feel free to start a topic on that issue in the Off The Net Forum. If this line of commentary continues, The Transfer Portal Tea shop will be closed for business.

Is that reasonably classy? Here’s a little fyi for you gopher: We believe that Baylor is in a unique position to support our students, including those who identify as LGBTQ, because of our Christian mission and the significant campus-wide resources available. Baylor’s status as a Christian research university values the scholarly investigation of Scripture. Consequently, we are committed to the open study of Scripture and discussion of multiple perspectives, both inside and outside the classroom. Regardless of one’s viewpoint on human sexuality, Baylor supports the dignity and worth of every person and seeks to create a campus climate where each person is treated with love and respect within our caring community, as outlined in our mission statement.” Does sound like you know
