The Northern California and Southern California regions each run a qualifier... and put them in Nevada... Is that a normal situation, or is that just for this year due to Covid restrictions? Normal. So Cal used to be in LA but move to Vegas a few years ago.

Spokane Reno Las Vegas Denver (until now) Dallas Kansas City Minneapolis Chicago Indianapolis/St Louis Atlanta Orlando Philadelphia I feel like that is a fairly balanced schedule. I think Phoenix could be a good replacement for Denver. 😉 Agreed, and they have the experience since they run the end of year Volleyball Festival there.

Is there really nothing in California? Or am I missing that on the schedule? The Northern California and Southern California regions each run a qualifier... and put them in Nevada... Vegas is part of the SoCal region and Reno is part of North Cal, so makes sense to put them where it's cheaper. Still in-region 🤷♀️

Still in-region 🤷♀️ And it also forces everyone from California to Stay-And-Play, so the regions make a lot more money...

How do either of those rules make them shady or greedy? Perhaps the fire Marshall told them they had to keep their isles clear... It happens... Fire mathsalls change rules almost on the fly... Becuase they can... The FM in Miami when GJNC was there threatened to shut the event down every 45mins because “chairs were out of line”... and because he could... Yes, perhaps the fire Marshall had limits of attendees who were below the posted number of occupants? And those tripods are so fire unfriendly. The standards for holding national qualifiers need to be written in stone so that all clubs can see which tourney's they have to avoid because of obnoxious rules that have nothing to do with fire or occupancy. The Vegas qualifier hosted by SCVA didn't have stupid rules but somehow non volleyball people thought it was a good idea to put the best teams in the nation together with only one referee on the entire court. Totally unfair to the refs, players, fans and the qualifying process. Maybe we should see if national qualifying basketball tournaments would be interested in saving money, common sense and court space but just having one ref for the entire court. That would be better coverage than Vegan gave to every team in the tourney. #COVID

They are not about to give it up, although to be fair, the only benefit of Stay and Play for the USAV are those tournaments that they directly operate, most qualifiers are not operated by USAV.

It is like signing a deal with a devil though when they make that agreement with the hotels, you ever seen the liquidated damages vernacular in those contracts if they don't fill a certain promised quota? Highway robbery, so of course they heavily enforce it when they have to.
