Two items: 1. Norway's opposite is Julie Mikaelsen, who played at Wisconsin from 2010-2014. 2. Since when is Israel in Europe? Israel is in European associations/federations for pretty much every sporting purpose.
This is due to their political relationships? stances? with the Middle Eastern countries in Africa/Asia. Those countries won't play them.
yep and yep. for all intents and purposes Israel tries to politically/economically identify as a European country. They're part of the EU last I checked.

Their starting opposite is their best player, so she probably won't get a lot of playing time but still a lot of good experience.

So that match featured the ghosts of Wisconsin Opposites Past & Future. Some Badger on Badger action. Wait, that second part sounded better in my head.

which teams are the ones with the biggest stars? besides sweden with Isabelle Haak (not necessarily biggest stars, but good players from each team)
Storck - Switzerland (Dresden) Laak - Estonia (Schwerin) Segura - Spain (Stuttgart)
Strantzali - Greece (somewhere in Turkey or Italy next season)
Vasilantonaki - Greece (Galatasaray)
Lucille Gicquel - France (Egonu's backup last season at Imoco) Greta Szakmary - Hungary (Aydin) Eva Mori - Slovenia (was in Turkey last year)
Edina Begic - Bosnia (Moscow)
Marta Levinska - Latvia (NCAA) Mlejnková - Czech (Stuttgart)

A win for Sweden would be huge. Their CEV ranking is abysmal. They need the points to boost their ranking since they're not participating in the Euro league later this summer (for whatever reason).

They're gonna set Haak until her arm falls off right? most likely, both Haak's. I don't think their setters are good so that'll be an issue.
They don't even really need to beat Ukraine (2 teams from each pool qualify)... Since Georgia got covid'ed out... a win against Portugal is much more important

Watched a bit of Finland - Slovakia and spotted Jim McLaughlin (former Washington HC) as an assistant coach for the finnish team. Slovakia was too strong though.

Sweden's coach is Ettore Guidetti, Giovanni's cousin.
