Urnaut had a nice match, but Cebulj was getting defended well. Tough considering Slovenia relies on Cebulj for a lot of their offense.

Poland better step up their game. Brazil doesn't have those weaknesses in serve receive like Slovenia. And Bruno won't just toss a high ball up to the outsides if things aren't perfect. Brazil also has better serving.
The only player that made a difference offensively for Poland was Kurek. Slovenia did a great job slowing down production from the left side.
Calling a 3-1 for Brazil if Poland doesn't up their level of play.

As I stated earlier, I think Poland can get away with some reception troubles / sloppiness because of their own success at the service line but I think the elite teams like Brazil will push them and get into their heads. Really, I’d expect every team to serve Leon and/or his seam with Kubiak or whoever is the other outside.

(I didn't watch the early-early match -- did France play their A-team? Was Tillie or Clevenot the 2nd OH?)

France played their A team, but then made some subs to try to change the outcome to no avail. Tillie started, Clevenot was subbed on. Boyer and Brizard also came off the bench.

France - Slovenia was a thriller early in the tournament but if I remember correctly both teams played a mixture of starters and bench players. I’m going to say Slovenia takes it because I think Cebulj will play better, and I think Slovenia has the defense to slow down the left sides of France. Could be totally wrong though hehe

Abysmal stats from the French pins Yeah… Coach Tillie was probably not happy to see that. Hopefully they turn it around tomorrow but no guarantees against a strong Slovenian team. This type of up and down pin play may bite France in Tokyo if they can’t get it together.

This type of up and down pin play may bite France in Tokyo if they can’t get it together. The french coach does not seem to have a plan. He went to that Brazil match with the same game plan as he did not realizing that the middle got stronger. M.Souza and Lucas did not play in the preliminary match against France. With more experience middles, you need faster plays. I do think his starters are ok with the exception of Tillie. He should have used Clevenot and build up chemistry. My personal opinion is maybe move Clevenot to OH1 and have Ngapeth in OH2. Well thats just me.

But I do agree that Slovenia might have a slight advantage in tomorrow's game.

Honestly, I think Poland will win it. And not just VNL but the Olympics. Brazil, France, Japan, USA, and Poland have their Olympic roster here. What I see in Poland is the hunger to win. I don't see that intensity and focus in other teams. Whether its their A team or their bench players. They're very scary every game, every set and every point. Italy is not here so I'll leave them out, but Poland is just hungrier.
