What's going on with this team, y'all? Last match I watched was the Minnesota win where we looked solid and we almost lost to Miss State tonight.

I’m sure I’m not as devout a Florida fan as many in here, but my take for what it’s worth: 1) Florida passing was rough. New passing formations with Hall on the right could be a part. Losing some of last years primary passers to the portal could also be a part of it. I also don’t think passing is typically a strength for Florida. 2) they’ve got some personnel and depth issues right now. Thayer moving the opposite, Forte missing time with that ankle, being too basic when Dooley is front row bc they never set her, Victoria and the freshmen being new to big roles… all that has them looking less polished than normal. It will get better as the year goes on. Wouldn’t be worried about that. Although… only 13 on roster would make training tough and could limit their ability to clean things up quickly. 3) Mississippi state is very good. I’m not saying they’re great or conference champ contender, but they’re good. Lefts are smart and crafty, opposites are deadly. I think Florida may have a tougher road than usual to a conference title, but will still make the annual trip to a sub-regional final at the least, and while it may be “a down year” for the program by not making a regional final, that’s still a great season for 97% of programs in the country and they have some talented recruits coming next year. |

1) We have the exact same passers as last year. Fischer, Hammons and Cerame barely did if at all by mid season on. I thought Hall, T'ara and Elli passing would be a strength this year as they were solid last year and would only improve with more time together. Is anyone else passing besides these 3?
2) Agree that the small roster is a problem. We needed some portal love that didn't happen. Victoria and Beason have been good at times but inconsistent it seems, which I suppose is to be expected. Why did Beason fall off a cliff on the right? She started so strong. Just young and not a natural position?
3) Good for MSU. Glad they're getting out of the cellar.
4) Anyone know when Forte will return?
5) How far from 100% is Hall? Seems like she's being confined a bit this year and taking fewer swings, which isn't a bad thing. She's been injury plagued her whole career.
6) How has Adams been as Victoria's DS? I assume that's what's happening. I really need to watch a match to see wtf is up.

Haven't been able to watch why we've fallen off since. So, I'm asking a forum full of fans why and seeing if my assumptions are correct or not. I'll be watching tonight! |

Can anyone confirm:
We moved Hall to the right so she can take fewer swings, not because Beason was struggling necessarily.
Victoria is more comfortable on the left over Beason so she took over Hall's spot there.
Essix is the preferred MB sub in place of Forte for now, assuming because of her slide.
Victoria is playing 6 rotations - back row defender but not a passer.
Adams took over Birdie's serve spot but nothing else.

Adams took over Birdie's serve spot but nothing else. - From what I know and have heard, yes, Hall moved to the right for that reason, but I could certainly be wrong (though I believe the intention was maybe for Beason to play front row to give Thayer additional rest, but that didn't go well)
- Victoria is great. She has had some error moments in the last couple of matches, but I still think she's awesome all the way around. Last night Beason subbed in for her front row a few times and was quite effective (3 kills in set 5!)
- I have only seen Essix run a slide like twice. That's not why she's in. In my mind, she's like Dooley, just more mobile and actually swings at balls. She'll be competing with Dooley for that spot. CAVEAT: Mary freaked out for at least 5 minutes last night and subbed just about every middle we have onto the court in the span of like 2 rotations.
- Yes, Victoria is playing 6 rotations, not passing.
- Yes, Adams took over Birdie's serve spot.
edit: I will say, Dooley was effective on offense last night! We just need more. Personally, she throws and places the ball too much. But it's effective, I guess! and a point is a point. I would just like to see a better connection between her and Marlie.

Tried to edit, but technology isn’t my strength) Anyone know why portal love didn’t happen? Would think it would be so easy for UF to grab up a multitude of transfers. Might be easiest school to recruit to in SEC for volleyball. Seems like I see tons of “grad transfers” on other rosters so they could have done it without affecting future recruiting… |

Hall and Forte are banged up, Setting and passing is great and horrible in the same match's. They are consistently inconsistent in their play. |

Just listened to Mary's post-match comments. Apparently Sofia missed some practice this week because she was sick. That makes Forte, Sofia, and Thayer all out or limited at practice which leave 10 practice players. Eesh. I know they came to our men's team club practice to scout some practice players, but I'm curious... At what point do you hold some sort of walk-on tryout or just get some of the club women to come for practice or something? That's gotta be hard to have such a small roster and then with injuries/illness. Sheesh!

I wonder if Mary reaches 1000 wins this year. My guess is this team doesn't have 14 more wins in them, not even sure they have 8-10. I'd personally rather her reach 1000 in a new season because this one could go down as the worst in her career at Florida.
