Santa Clara took the first set 25-13 over Nevada, while hitting .563. Second set 25-19 to go up 2-0 Third set 25-15 for the sweep.
Santa Clara must have put in some good practice this week. They hit .518 for the match with only 4 errors in the whole match. Tulino had 13 kills, Sangiacomo and Shaffer had 11 each. The middle, Stucchi went 8-0-12 with 3 blocks. Even the libero Georgiadis and DS Grace Wee got kills.
I think there is only one player in this lineup taller than 6'0....Sangiacomo. Santa Clara went 0-3 in their opening weekend, so this is their first win.

Lukes had 19 kills hit .459 when injured Really a shame for Lukes. I hope the injury is mild. USD was trailing 8-14 in the fourth set when she went out and was subbed for Emily Wilson, who went 1 for 5. The #22 Toreros lost in 4 to #19 Utah. They are now 2-2. Saint Mary’s dropped their first match of the season 1-3 to San Jose State (similar to Santa Clara’s loss to SJSU last weekend, so I guess SJSU is improved this season). Baka led the Gaels with 17 kills at .302. Unfortunately for SMC, SJSU’s Haylee Nelson had an epic night going 19-1-40 (.450). The Gaels are 3-1 on the season now. Portland beat Montana State 3-1 to move to 3-2 on the season. Gonzaga swept Seattle and is 2-2 on the season. Pacific swept UC San Diego San Francisco was swept by UC Davis

Unfortunate for the WCC, but I have a soft spot for San Jose State, as I had a longtime girlfriend who graduated from there.

I'm surprised to see LMU struggling to gain an upper hand on UC Riverside. They are hitting only .085 and only Geissberger is getting kills.

LMU pulled out the third set 25-21 over UC Riverside to lead 2-1. I thought this would be a very easy match for them. It looks like the middles can't buy a kill. Geissberger doing most of the work, and now Booth helping out . Megan Rice went 1-1-4 and only played in 2 sets. Other players rotating in. Hope there are no injuries.
Wish more of these matches were televised to see what's going on.
Nevada took set one 25-22 over San Francisco.

I feel like LMU still hasn't found their lineup yet. They've been going with either Geissberger/Booth/Rice or Klemp/Geissberger/Rice at the pins. In the middle, Walters has secured a spot, but that second spot has been between Moore and Bagwell mainly (and tbh neither have really stood out). The only constants are Shroll at libero and Bareford at setter. I think they still have some things to figure out so maybe they are just going through some growing pains.
IMO Rice and Geissberger should both be on the court for 6 rotations regardless of what lineup is playing.

Geissberger, Booth and Klemp at the pins. Did something happen to Rice in the second set yesterday? She hasn't been on the court since. From the stats, Middles are still not contributing.
