Hopefully Lukes can play, they need her to have a chance to beat UCLA. She was dominating in the Utah tournament when she went down. Didn't look great as she was on crutches the rest of the tourney.

Gonzaga apparently didn't pose much threat to UNI, losing 0-3 (-12, -21, -16) and dropping to 3-4 on the season. Hit .177 (26/15/62) for the match. McKenna Marshall struggled, hitting just .107 (11/8/28). Kennedy Croft hit .545, but only had 6 kills (6/0/11). Juliette Russell hit .545, but again only had 5 kills (5/1/7). The rest of the team had 4 kills. They got aced 10 times, so passing was likely an issue. They did have 17 digs to 19 for UNI.
UNI hit .444 (43/11/72) and had four hitters above .500, led by Carly Spies (.636, 8/1/11) followed by Kira Fallert at .625 (5/0/8), Kaylissa Arndorfer at .600 (7/1/10), and Emily Holterhaus at .524 (15/4/21). As mentioned they aced Gonzaga 10 times against 9 errors, so they must have been serving tough.
UNI came in with a 2-4 record, having lost their last 3 all by scores of 0-3, but those loses were to USC, Kentucky, and Creighton. They also lost 1-3 to Ball State and have 3-1 wins over North Dakota State and Green Bay. I was hopeful Gonzaga would show better in this match, but alas...

It seems pretty clear so far that Gonzaga plans to ride McKenna Marshall as far as they can this season. How she goes, go the Zags. She's getting more than twice as many sets as anyone else, and somehow miraculously has gotten kills off the block from sets that are far beyond the antenna. But I think she needs more help to make the team successful.

BYU crushed Bowling Green in the first two sets -13, -16 and have a 12-10 lead in the third set.
Looks like Ballard Nixon is not in the match. Resting? Gneiting is 7-0-11 and Koerber 11-1-26. Callahan has 5 kills at .188 (in Ballard-Nixon's place?). Livingston 4 kills at .167. Eschenberg is 6-1-12.

Live Stats stalled with BYU leading 18-15 in the 3rd, but here's the final score.

Stats show that Kate Grimmer got into one set of the match, but went 1-2-3 on hitting (-.333), which won't help her confidence. Callahan finished with 6 kills hitting .235 in place of Ballard-Nixon. Koerber led with 11 kills. Both middles had 8 kills at a very high hitting percentage.

Pacific is down 0-2 to Boise State (which sounds like a pretty good team this year). Set scores were -19, -18. I forgot that Pepperdine grad Alli O'Harra is spending her 5th season playing for Boise State.
Boise State is hitting a sizzling .426, and holding Pacific to .176
**Boise State completed the sweep -19, -18, -16. Alexa Edwards led Pacific with 10 kills hitting .208. Ramonni Cook had 9 kills, Kumanova had 8 kills. Pacific hit .153 for the match to BSU's .382

BYU has tweeted that they officially are joining the BIG-12 conference. Someone mentioned that it may begin in the 2023-24 season, so BYU would have one more season after this one to play in the WCC. It's a disappointing loss for WCC Volleyball to lose BYU but they will do very well in the Big 12.
Gonzaga leads Long Beach State 2-1, though LBSU has taken an early lead in set 4.
Kennedy Croft is getting the most sets today, rather than McKenna Marshall. Croft has 20 kills on 34 swings, hitting .529! Marshall has 13 kills on 27 swings, hitting .286. The Zags are hitting .363 for the match so far.

Gonzaga had a 13-11 lead in the fifth set over LBSU, but the Beach rolled off 4 straight points to take the match.
Kennedy Croft led all hitters with 27 kills at .462 (52 swings). Marshall had 16 kills at .303 (33 swings).

Seems like the conference will lose a fair amount of revenue with BYUβs departure since as a much bigger school than all the other conference members they have the biggest fan base and have fans show up at all their away games. For volleyball though maybe some of the WCC schools will be happy to see them go and open up a more equitable fight for the conference championship? At least in volleyball. In basketball I expect Gonzaga will still be dominate. As the only school in the conference with football, BYU just has way more $$$ in their athletic dept. The resources their volleyball program has are unmatched in the WCC.

I havenβt been watching BYU but I expected that if a freshman OH was going to get any playing time this year it would be the highly touted Stowell. Did Callahan fly in from off the radar?
