LMU 3-1 over a struggling 2-8 Cal Poly team. There will be a rematch at Cal Poly next.
#15 BYU 3-0 over #10 Utah in a match that never felt close. The negatives were the loss of Livingston in set 2 to what looked like a significant ankle sprain, and then the loss of Koerber (twice) while holding her knee, even though is was described as cramps? Utah didn't look good in any facet of the game and BYU had all the energy. Callahan came in for Livingston in set 2.
Santa Clara was swept by the same 9-1 Boise State team that handed Utah their first loss on Monday.
Pepperdine swept VCU.
San Jose State swept San Francisco (sigh). (SJSU is 3-0 vs the WCC in this pre-conference schedule.)
Pacific lost 1-3 to Arizona State. Pacific hit .047 for the match, and I don't see MB Sedona Sherman in the stats...injured? 13 Pacific players got into the match.

Is Rice injured for LMU? Don't think I saw her on the stat sheet tonight.

Such a bummer for San Francisco after their surprisingly good season in the spring. Wow, they're 0-7 and have only won three sets all season.

Such a bummer for San Francisco after their surprisingly good season in the spring. Wow, they're 0-7 and have only won three sets all season. Yeah, I hate to see this, too. The off-season changes didn't bode well, but I was hoping it wasn't this bad. It's like they are back at square one again after making slow progress the past two seasons.

Santa Clara is up 1-0 on Oregon State 25-21 (after leading 20-13 and giving up a big run to OSU).
This is Santa Clara's 10th and final pre-conference match.

Is Rice injured for LMU? Don't think I saw her on the stat sheet tonight. Rice played sparingly against CSUN on September 4 and hasn't been in any matches since. Geissberger, Rose and Klemp have been the pins in every match since then. I don't know if she's injured or got beat out.

Santa Clara is up 2-0 on Oregon State, taking the second set 25-23, after again giving up a late OSU rally after having a 17-10 lead.

Santa Clara had an easy sweep of Oregon State, pulling starters midway through the third set with a 9 point lead. OSU turned into a train wreck. Santa Clara finishes pre-conference with a 4-6 record, which I think is quite a bit worse than expected.

Pacific with a surprising 1st set win over UNLV, 25-22. Pacific hit .316 (19/7/38) led by Alexa Edwards's .583 (8/1/12). Ramonni Cook, Kaelyn Saler, and Kennedy Kaminsky all had 3 kills, hitting .429 (3/0/7), .500 (3/1/4), and .750 (3/0/4) respectively. UNLV hit .143 (8/4/28)
Really wanted to watch this match, but of course it's the only one without video.

Pacific led 18-14 at one point in set 2, but UNLV comes back to take it, 25-23, so it's now 1-1. Alexa Edwards continues to lead the Tigers, but she only got 2 kills in set 2 on 9 attempts. She's still hitting .381 (10/2/21) for the match. It doesn't look like anyone else got more than 2 kills in set 2 as well, as Cook, Saler, and Kaminsky are all up to 5 kills each.
I'm outta here for now.

UNLV won 3-1: 22-25, 25-23, 25-19, 25-23. Close sets. UNLV hit .191 and Pacific hit .157
Edwards finished with 20 kills hitting .280. No one else had more than 8 kills. Again, I don't see MB Sedona Sherman, so she must be injured.
Pacific concludes their pre-conference schedule with a 3-8 record.
San Francisco is 0-7 but has a chance to pick up their first win this evening vs UC San Diego in their final pre-conference match.
Meanwhile, Portland issued this statement: University of Portland women's volleyball will not compete this week in scheduled matches versus Fresno State and Washington. The team did not have enough available players because of non-COVID related injuries and medical concerns.
The Pilots were scheduled to travel to Seattle to play Fresno State on Thursday and the No. 7-ranked Huskies on Friday, but both matches have officially been cancelled.
Portland concludes its non-conference schedule with a 3-6 record.
