BYU 21-20 over UVU in the 3rd. They had a 4-point lead at 18-14, but UVU has closed the gap.
Kills by Koerber & TBN make it 23-20 for BYU. UVU uses their last TO.

Man, they fought so hard to get back into the 4th set. I am scratching my head as to why Petrie did not call a TO sooner. 4 straight points when they were leading 22-19. It was a terrible decision for her not to. Why wait until you are down 22-23? They've already lost the emotional/mental edge they had by that point. The chances of regaining it are slim.

Two straight attack errors from Kazna Tanuvasa and that's set 3, 25-20, for BYU, and the match 3-0.
Koerber: 18/1/25, .680, 8 digs, 1 ace
Eschenberg: 8/1/15, .467, 4 blocks
Gneiting: 6/2/10, .400, 6 digs, 1 ace
Ballard-Nixon: 7/3/23, .174, 4 aces
Callahan: 5/5/19, .000, 2 blocks
Bower: 4/0/5, .800, 37 assists, 6 digs
Allen: 10 digs, 5 assists
Reinert: 6 digs
Team: 48/12/98, .367, 43 digs, 8 aces, 4 blocks (UVU had 5), 47 assists

So after Madill came in and set USD to much higher hitting percentages against USC, Tercariol is the starting setter vs LBSU? Madill started. She got pulled after the first set. I just think USD back in a locker room a little over 12 hours after what had to be a physically and emotionally draining win the night before and they didn’t have any umph. A Long Beach fan (?) may have summed up the match best, saying Long Beach hasn’t played a match this well in 5 years. None of this makes it easier to swallow the virtual lack of offense. I couldn’t watch, but the play by play/box score makes it look like LB just kept bombing away at USDs vulnerable pass, service errors be damned.

After an emotional 5 set win over USC, tough to come back emotionally 20 hours later at LBSU. Long Beach played great and definitely deserved the victory, but USD cam out very flat.
I'm thinking USD may have rushed Katie Lukes back a week to early. She definitely doesn't have the lift and termination she had in Utah before the ankle injury. If she isn't healthy enough to play 6 rotations is she healthy enough to play in the front row?
hopefully she can get healthy as USD will need her to have a chance to win league and go deep in the tourney.

Judging by the box score, San Diego had a lot of trouble with Kashuana Williams (20-6-44, .318) and Katie Kennedy (16-2-26, .538).

Thanks for all of the wonderful schedules and links Zazu Gonzaga and Portland State are tied at 1-1 but Gonzaga is about to take the third set. Edit: jk PSU just went on a 9-1 run to tie it at 22 Portland State is up 2-1 now, winning the third set 25-23, after Gonzaga had a 21-13 lead. Yikes. PSU won 3-1 with a 25-17 fourth set. Gonzaga finishes pre-conference with a 4-7 record. Wins over Seattle, SE Louisiana, Air Force and NDSU.

Pre-conference records. Obviously, teams played vastly different schedules in terms of opponent quality/rankings.
#15 Brigham Young 10-1 (one loss was to Pitt, swept MSU, Utah, UNLV) Pablo ranking = 16 Loyola Marymount 9-1. (their one loss was to their only ranked opponent, Purdue). Pablo ranking = 44 #24 Pepperdine 8-1 (their one loss was to their only ranked opponent, Washington, in 4 sets) Pablo ranking = 34 #21 San Diego 6-3 (losses to Texas, Utah and LBSU. Beat Hawaii, USC and UCLA). Pablo ranking = 26 Saint Mary's 6-3 (losses to SJSU, Utah State, Cal. Played no ranked opponents.) Pablo ranking = 81 Santa Clara 4-6 (win over #24 South Carolina. Some unexpected losses to lesser teams.) Pablo ranking = 110 Gonzaga 4-7 (Played no ranked opponents. Beat SE Louisiana, Seattle, Air Force and NDSU) Pablo = 127 Portland 3-6. (Beat Montana State, Nevada, Idaho. Played no ranked opponents.) Pablo = 198 Pacific 3-8. (Beat CSUN, Tarleton State, UC San Diego. Played no ranked opponents.) Pablo = 168 San Francisco 0-8. (Swept by Florida with no more than 12 points per set. Went 5 with UCSD and Sac State. Went 4 with CSUB.) Pablo = 204

It seems like the bottom half of the WCC teams had quite a few missed opportunities to close out some matches that I feel they should have won. But other than San Diego, who scheduled tough, there were a lot of cupcakes scheduled even for the ranked teams, and definitely for the lower teams. Final W-L for pre-conference this year is 53-44

WCC Conference Play Week 1
The live stats for the BYU matches are here (Pacific) and here (St. Mary's). Whoever the SID for women's volleyball is right now is not doing as good a job as they have in the past with keeping the schedule updated, but I realized that the ID for each BYU home match just increases by one. I went ahead and added all the links for the live stats for the home matches on the BYU thread, so I won't have to do it later when the schedule inevitably isn't updated.

They've been updating the website again, which usually means there is missing/incorrect/out-of-date information. My favorite is that on the events schedule on the first page it keeps listing their wins as losses with the scores backwards. In the past I've been able to figure out the links by doing what you did, but I'm too lazy today, so thanks!
