I like the Munoz hire This is interesting, because Mansfield was hired as an SCU assistant after that administration determined something had to change, and it was a purge of the assistants. I thought LMU was on the right track except for injuries and Covid-related athlete absences... |

Wow that really sucks for San Francisco. I know Dalla Vecchia was a senior, but she was 1st team all WCC, right? I'm sure she could've had some great opportunities for grad school. As for Greta Corti, she was a freshman with a lot of potential. Now I'm worried the same thing that happened several years ago is going to happen to San Francisco again, where another mass exodus is going to take place. The program was trending in the right direction, sad to see it potentially take a dip again.

This is, indeed, bad news for San Francisco. Not only the transfer of an excellent libero, but also a rising sophomore key player, following the transfer of McKenna Marshall to Gonzaga. Hopefully they hire a new coach and right the ship quickly.

I thought LMU was on the right track except for injuries and Covid-related athlete absences... I would have thought the same thing. Felt like injuries were biggest reason for dip in performance. Clearly Aaron thought differently |

All the ole volunteer asst. to head coach promotion Fascinating. At least they have a coach on hand for some continuity, although they have already lost McKenna Marshall, Dalla Vechia and Corti to transfers. A Brazilian coach will likely keep up the international recruiting trend for the USF rosters. I wish him all the best and hope they can field a very competitive team in the fall. |

Talented setter with 4 years of eligibility. I'm kind of surprised she didn't jump ship either. She could make waves on many other teams. Maybe the South American coach will help keep her put, and as you point out, maybe some other international support could have San Francisco competent to be a mid-level WCC team again. |

Not quite sure what to think about this. The last time USF had a promotion, it was V Brown from Assistant to Interim HC after HC Doron left. That promotion proved worthless and almost all girls jumped ship anyways. This jump from 1 year volunteer to Full on HC is drastic. Lavrisha didn't have a blessing or comment on the promotion in the article which leaves me to wonder. A promotion like this is usually a strategic move to retain current players, will some of the transfers out change their minds? I hope this new coach can recruit internationally or find amazing transfers. It doesn't seem like their incoming 2021 recruits will be so impactful, so I say he should just field his own recruits. I wonder how the assistant coaches feel about this promotion |

That would make a lil more sense. Either way, this doesn't totally surprise me. USF has had lil spurts of being decent, but overall has been one of the worst in WCC and the athletic dept. with hires like this doesn't seem to care too much about it changing. |

The athletic director at USF, Joan McDermott, is a she I believe. It does seem like she had it in the back of her head to replace Lavrisha if another coach caught her eye. Even with the progress that USF has had, it was still a losing season. So it makes sense that McDermott would let him go and make it seem like his decision to retire. They should have advised Lavrisha to groom a successor for the last couple of years to improve the transition. I thought that successor would be the Associate Head Coach. Maybe McDermott is right though and Silva is head coach material. She was previously volleyball coach and player after all. I hope Silva can recruit |
