Portland out quick in set 5, 5-2 against Saint Mary's. I am surprised by this match. Portland has really struggled, and I thought Saint Mary's had the definite edge. They are playing without one of their usual OH starters, Cowell. I believe she's injured? |

Saint Mary's now up 8-6 over Portland in the fifth.
In the San Diego match, Santa Clara's 5'11 middles are not finding success against the excellent San Diego block today.

It seems so, and I know part of their issues have been players in and out, but I still didn't expect it to be this close.
Up 13-11 now. Hope they get this one.

LMU clinging to a 22-21 lead in the 4th takes a TO. Is this going to be the same as set 2? Hope not. Come on Lions!
In the 3rd set, Santa Clara has a 2-point lead over San Diego at the moment, 16-14. |

Meg Brown is really having a rough match. I guess LMU really studied her. She's hitting 4-9-17 against LMU. LMU has jumped out to the early 5-1 lead.
Santa Clara is up 21-15 over San Diego in the third set.

Saint Mary's 15-12 in the 5th, wins 3-2 over Portland. Boo Laird hit .667 (10/0/15) for the Gaels.
Santa Clara up 22-16 on San Diego in the 3rd.
LMU up 7-6 at Pepperdine. Every time LMU has built a lead in this match, Pepperdine has come back.

Santa Clara takes it 25-18 or 19. Stats show 18, announcer said 19

Set point for Santa Clara, 24-17. Lukes off the block prevents it. 24-18 Set point #2
Sangiacomo dumps it short into the net. 24-19. Set point #3
Rally ends in Lukes hitting wide. Santa Clara wins set 3, 25-19, to send it to a 4th set. San Diego still up 2-1. Schaffer came back in, but still hitting negative. But it didn't matter in this set.
LMU/Pepperdine is as close as can be, 10s in the 5th.
