That's cool that Megan Rice and Heather Gneiting are getting the pre-season love after a prolonged absence from the indoor scene. It sounds like they are both ready to have big seasons.
For the poll, I might flip LMU above Pepperdine. Not sure if Santa Clara has the pieces to be 5th, but there may be a drop-off after the top 4 highly competitive teams, and a bunch of similar teams in the bottom 6, who keep beating each other.
Pacific has a ton of new players, so it's impossible to know how they will look.
Portland and Gonzaga might have lost the most experienced players of anyone, so will see how they have re-loaded...I will be interested to see if USF transfer McKenna Marshall remains the go-to hitter in Gonzaga's gameplan.

I do have an iPad though, which I might try to take with me to the BYU tournament matches on Friday & Saturday. Not sure I want to carry it around with me though, even if it's small one. |

Gonzaga's starters:
Kennedy Croft, Juliette Russell, Cara McKenzie, Viktoriya Ivanova, Brynn Chandler, McKenna Marshall, Grace Ehler. (Ivanova is the libero, maybe?)
Saint Mary's has the second match of the season. Currently racing out to a hot start in the first set over Siena.
SMC starters: Christensen,Selbie; Harrer,Hawley; Baka,Elena; Sandt,Ella; Cowell,Chandler; Laird,Jennifer
Sandt and Thompson are running a 6-2, apparently. Harrer is out to a great start, 6-0-10 through two sets. Laird and Baka both hitting well over .400. SMC is up 2-0.
Saint Mary's completed the sweep of Siena in their opener.

Scores have been 25-17, 25-13, 16-25, and now tied at 13 in the 4th set. Perhaps first match jitters for all the new crew. They are hitting .280 in the match. Edit: The tallest two players on SE Louisiana are 6'1. Everyone else under 6'. Gonzaga lost set four 19-25, and they are knotted in the fifth at 10. Gonzaga pulled out the 3-2 win with a 15-12 fifth set in their opener, hitting .228. Chandler is running a 5-1. Ivanova at libero with 23 digs. McKenna Marshall led the Zags with 17 kills at .214. Grace Ehler was 8-0-14. Croft had a good start but finished with 9 kills, hitting .077. McKenzie and Russell also had 9 kills each, hitting over .300 for the match. |

Pacific dropped the first 2 sets to SMU, -12, -14. They are down 10-15 in the third. Heller and Leo are running a 6-2. Kumanova leads with 7 kills at .174
Pacific was swept in their opener by SMU -12. -14, -21
Portland Starters: Lawson,Jiana; Harris,Jayde; Helm,Noelani; Gregg,Ryann; Harmon,Chelsey; Bowman,Paloma; Zilbert,Grace; Mumolo,Keilani; Muraoka,Alyssa
Portland dropped the first set, but won the next two. Fourth set starting now. Helm and Bowman are running a 6-2. Harris leads with 11 kills at .304.
Portland won their opener 3-1 over Nevada.
Santa Clara Starters: Shaffer,Michelle; Georgiadis,Kat; Tuileta,Nive; Stucchi,Anna; Anthony,Alex; Tulino,Sophia; Radeff,Elena. The freshman, Nive Tuileta, is setting a 5-1. Shaffer is at Opposite. I don't see 6'5 OH Sangiacomo in the lineup, so presume injury, which is not good for Santa Clara.
SCU dropped the first set to San Jose State 25-19.
Georgiadis at libero, Grace Wee at DS.
Edit: Sangiacomo is in the lineup for set 2, and SCU leads 17-14...dropped the second set 24-26 to go down 0-2.
Edit: Santa Clara took the third set, now down 1-2 against SJSU.
Santa Clara gave up a late lead (at set point) in the 4th set, like the second, and dropped both sets 24-26. They lost 1-3 to SJSU, while hitting .267. Tulino led with 16 kills, and Sangiacomo and Shaffer added 14 each.
BYU Starters: Gneiting, Heather; Koerber, Kenzie; Bower, Whitney; Livingston, Erin; Eschenberg, Kennedy; Reinert, Gretchen (DS for Ballard-Nixon?); libero Allen, Madi.
BYU is crushing Southern Utah, while hitting .488. 25-11, 18-13 current score in the second. Gneiting and Eschenberg have 8 kills, 1 error between them. Ballard-Nixon leads with 7 kills hitting over .400.
BYU had an easy sweep of SUU, with everyone having great hitting percentages except Koerber, at .179.

Pepperdine Starters: Zelaya, Isabel; Ballo, Rosie; Brown, Meg; Stanger, Trinity; Ahrens, Rachel; Joyce, Kayla; libero Shields, Madison.
They lead Winthrop 18-15 in the first set.
I think Zelaya setting a 5-1, Brown and Ballo at MB, Emma Ammerman at Opp?, Ahrens and Grace Chillingworth at OH? Shields at libero, Stanger at DS?
Pepperdine took the first set 25-18, with Ahrens doing most of the heavy lifting with 7 kills at .462
