Sedona Sherman had a great match for Pacific, hitting .565 (14/1/23) with 2 solo blocks. As a team they hit .206 (65/30/170) to Saint Mary's .187 (44/18/139). Pacific had 60 assists to just 41 for Saint Mary's.
Pacific served 11 aces/11 errors. Saint Mary's had just 2 aces and 5 errors.

Gonzaga took the first set 25-21 and USF took set two 25-20. Set three about to start.
Announcers showed BYU's Hifo out for the season with a broken right hand that required surgery. Madi Allen is also still out for BYU for unclear reasons. LMU's Geissberger is out for the season with a knee injury. But LMU has come out fighting and has held the lead against BYU until 12-12, and BYU now up 13-12.
Pepperdine and San Diego are tied at 11-11. USD now up 12-11 despite having exactly 2 kills and 2 errors in the match. (Stoner has 3 blocks already!)

LMU showing some grit early in this game, tied 10-10 with BYU in the second. They can't catch a break this year with their injuries - Geissberger and Boehle out with injuries for the year and Bareford playing with a broken nose. Rice with some jaw dropping serves and kills this game...she's so good. Koerber is playing absolutely perfectly on BYU's side of the net (hitting .800 with 8 kills on 10 swings no errors).

The USD/Pepperdine game is hard to watch right now. Pries and Frohling are hitting 0 and .067, meanwhile everyone on Pepperdine's side of the net is hitting negative except Ahrens at .176. Lots of errors in this game between serving and hitting the ball out of bounds...it seems whichever team makes less of these types of errors will win because the other team will error their way to a loss (right now USD ahead). Very impressed with Stoner who's got 6 blocks now.

USD's blocking has been excellent all match and I think it is frustrating the Pepperdine hitters. I'm trying to watch both BYU-LMU and USD-Pepp at once.

Gonzaga took the match 3-1 over still-winless USF. Marshall had 8 kills hitting 0 against her former team. Croft led Gonzaga with 18 kills at .325.
San Diego is up 2-0 over Pepperdine, but trailing early in the third set.
BYU and LMU are currently tied at 1-1. LMU playing their hearts out.

I do not agree with this week’s WCC Players of the week.
Offensive: Rachel Ahrens.
Defensive: Kenzie Koerber
What in the world? I can see a case for Ahrens being made, but Koerber for defensive, no, I don’t think so. Some of the nominations (or lack therof) are puzzling to me. I don’t think I like the way this is done. Frohling was a much better choice for defensive player, but was only nominated for offensive. Yet I think her two matches were more impressive than Ahrens offensively. I also don’t understand why Eschenberg wasn’t even nominated.

The coaches nominate, right? One offensive and one defensive submission?

That’s my understanding, though they must be able to nominate more than one for their team because I’ve see it, at least in the offensive category. That’s why I feel Eschenberg should have been nominated as well. Also, I wish, in the case of Frohling, that she had been nominated for both, but I don’t know if they allow that. If they don’t, they should, because she was deserving.

As for DPOW, I thought it was a tossup between Grace Frohling and Jadyn Tubbs. Koerber had 10 blocks and 13 digs. Maybe she was getting credit for that massive service run?
