Looks like the WCC is taking it on the chin today. San Francisco lost to Sacramento State 3-2, Gonzaga got swept by Mississippi State, Santa Clara lost to Portland State 3-1, Pacific lost to Stephen F. Austin 3-1, and Portland lost to Eastern Washington 3-1. On the bright side, LMU beat Kansas 3-1, Pepperdine swept Morehead State, and San Diego beat UT San Antonio 3-1. So the better teams won at least, but those are still some less-than-stellar results.

I really think LMU can challenge BYU for the WCC title. I don't think it's impossible. IMO USD and Pepperdine don't have the passing/defense to compete for the title right now. That might change as the preseason progresses, but right now I just don't see it.

I've been away all day. Great to hear about LMU over Kansas. I still think BYU is the top team - most complete roster - but LMU is looking like the #2 team to me. San Diego and Pepp will win most of their conference matches. The bottom 6 teams are really struggling. They need to step it up in pre-conference matches to help the WCC.

In the late matches, Pepperdine beat Georgia 3-2, Saint Mary's swept Wyoming, and BYU hammered a Hayden-less UNLV in straight sets.

Saint Mary's honestly looked pretty good. I don't know how much of that was Wyoming not being that great of a team, but they could definitely take it to Pepperdine and San Diego, IMO.

Anyone there? BYU has a beautiful free stream with excellent commentators. Weber State is playing tough. Currently leads BYU by one at 18-17 in the first.

BYU squeaks out the first set 25-23 over Weber State. Weber State's defense was really impressive. They were led by Rylin Adams' 8 kills. Livingston leads BYU with 4 kills.
