Updated rankings 1. Long Beach - Lots. of. Firepower. 2. Pepperdine - Jasper! 3. UCSD - Return everyone. 4. Hawaii - Young, but talented 5. UCLA - Who's the setter? 6. Penn State - PSUIVA 7. UCI - My darkhorse 8. Grand Canyon - Consistency? 9. Loyola - 10th year Zolg is back. 10. USC - Sam Kobrine 11. Ohio State - A year away, IMHO. 12. UCSB - Wilcox needs help. 13. Lewis - Why is Tyler Mitchem still playing college ball? 14. BYU - Passing, passing, passing??? T-15 - CSUN, PRINCETON? Did I miss someone? good list. LB on top is possible but will depend on setter if they can be #1 LBSU will be very good and I’m guessing Hunt is looking to finally break though. Having those two as 1-2 is very astute. I can’t wait to watch the season unfold.

Yep rosters/schedule are slowly churning out but I'm sure nothing is final. Also Hoping to see the renewal of UCLA/Hawaii again and well hopefully they squashed whatever caused them to not schedule each other. Also Pepperdine was supposed to host UH before the season got cancelled. Very exciting times indeed.

I think Penn State will be back playing in the finals of the national championship this year or next year

I think Penn State will be back playing in the finals of the national championship this year or next year This upcoming year is probably there best chance, since most of their starting line-up is all seniors? PSU has to schedule tough out of conference and actually win some of them. If they do that then I'm a believer. But, for now I feel like they most like the other teams that I have above them have some holes that need to be filled. Like their second outside, both middles need to elevate their game to another level.

I know it's too early for MVB season but seeing the "hype" video by Pep makes me think they're liking their chances to be at the top with Jasper now in Malibu... http://instagram.com/p/CUGYaIWDe1L

Pepp could be major trouble next season.

EXCEPT.... if you can't pass well enough than they would rarely get an opportunity for a quality swing and passing seems to get overlooked all too often in this game.

I don’t understand what your comment is alluding to… know you are just trying to stir up the board... you understand. Neither are great passers. Hunt started 3 liberos last year and did pretty well so the style of VB that would have Jasper and Akin on the floor would be a departure, it could be effective if they become more consistent OOS hitters and the other OH and L can cover 90% of the court like UH in the playoffs last year. We will see what happens, I agree with your first post and would love to see both players in the starting line up. Both fun players to watch.

I’m not trying to stir up anything and not sure why my asking for clarification equals “stirring something up”. I’m assuming that Jasper is going to compete on the Rightside w/ Steele and was banking on Akinwumi using the limited freshman season and a push to work on his reception a la Galloway from Hawaii. Sure I guess they could both be leftsides but that doesn’t seem likely to me but wouldn’t mind seeing it. You really don’t have to read into things online and assume the worst. Not everything needs to be a fight.

Yea i have no idea what the Pepp line up will look like, only that I’m excited to see what they bring to the court next season. I’m not going to dismiss any players abilities to pass at this point because I’m simply not in the gym with them and I would feel foolish to claim Jasper and Akinwumi can’t do something that I’m not watching them improve on

As expected, roughly half of the top 15 schools are SoCal…and I get it. That is where the most up-and-coming club talent has always been and those boys stay close to home. UCLA is absolutely loaded with talent as is LBSU. But, I’m always excited when the MIVA, EIVA, CC or Indies compete with them. Looks like PSU, OSU and Loyola will bring back some strong talent, but Coach Friend always finds a way to be competitive at Lewis but, there are big shoe to fill losing 3 AA’s. I’m so stoked for the season to start! This winter, I’m gonna load up on all the men’s VB streaming that I can!

(i already thought he went pro) does anyone know if pepperdine is safe for LGBTQIA+ athletes? i tried doing research on their stance on it, but didn't find much since 2017. not trying to stir up drama or anything. i attended a christian college being queer and it's one of the hardest things ive done. hope jasper feels safe.

I mean it’s still SoCal so it’s going to always lean on the more liberal/accepting side of things, don’t see him having any issues there as compared to other parts of the country.
