Question for anyone: Is this timeline for releasing schedules typical, or in past years would things have progressed further at this point (D-1 overall)? My guess is that Covid and the atypical Spring season has compressed coaches' timelines to cram in recruiting, hiring, camps, summer workouts and making schedules....

There's always a mad rush in July by teams that waited until the last minute. Generally they are all up by August though.

My guess is that Covid and the atypical Spring season has compressed coaches' timelines to cram in recruiting, hiring, camps, summer workouts and making schedules.... Normally there has been 7+ months since the end of the last season for coaches to get their schedules worked out, but with the last year's season getting pushed back to this spring, that leaves only a couple/few months. Then factor in the uncertainty of how the ongoing pandemic will affect this fall's season (will the conference schedule be normal, or the covid back-to-back special; will fans be allowed and at what capacity; are there funds/sponsors available to enable hosting a non-conference tournament or not; etc.), and it takes longer to get thing finalized and announced.

someone should tell USW that the proper abbreviation for Northern Iowa is "UNI", not "NIU" (I mean, it is shown right in the logo that they have posted on the schedule)Kudos to the athletic communications staff (or whoever handles the website) at Wazzou for having made the correction. (I did send an email shortly after making this post informing them of the proper initialism, so perhaps that got the ball rolling, or maybe that's just coincidence)

I think that schools like UNLV just want to give their undefeated 2020 schedule as much "hang time" as they possibly can.
No way that they don't know who they are playing by now.

I don't have the data, but I don't think is unusual in schedules coming out 'late'. Typically there are more delays in conferences that have changes in members - and there are several of these for this year. Also, it appears that many schools are waiting until all matches are firmed up before posting - and there seems to be some extra dates that schools are trying to fill. We are seeing a continued increase in schools not scheduling more than one match a day. I think this may be creating *some* headaches in finding teams to schedule - either the increase in the number of schools that expanded conference matches to 20 and are limited by dates or finding schools for the typical 4 team weekend tournaments.

... We are seeing a continued increase in schools not scheduling more than one match a day ... maybe that has something to do with potential Covid protocols? (athletes "testing-in", or disinfecting courts/equipment between matches, etc.)

(athletes "testing-in", or disinfecting courts/equipment between matches, etc.) This has been a growing trend over the years - especially among the top programs. I think this is a continuation of that in most circumstances. My guess - playing more than one match in a day is hard on the body - and increases the risk of an upset.

We are getting close to 90% of the D1 schools posting their schedule. Sure seems like we are going to see fewer matches than 2019. Here are some conference that have the same # of conference matches with their non conference.
Patriot: 9 schools, go from 120 non conference matches to 96. PAC12 goes from 124 to 110. Colonial goes from 109 to 88 Sun Belt from 156 to 135 Southern from 114 to 104 Ivy from 76 to 72 Mountain West from 126 to 125 Big 12 from 100 to 97 SEC from 144 to 138
And then the Big Sky goes from 128 to 119, while reducing their conference schedule from 198 to 176.
