I see this as a shade to Nikolov who went pro. I know Hawaii volleyball players are not superstars like Alex but I’m pretty sure some of them could get a pro contract if they want to. Hawaii vball has a very good chemistry making them want to stay in the program longer. Others probably don’t have that tight bond. What shade? It’s better for Nikolov to go pro, compared to staying in college and lose to Hawaii everytime the two teams meet up. As good as he is, he is but one person. He cannot do it alone. There are players on the Bulgarian national team ahead of him.

I think Kaumana Carreira (2024) to UH is pretty much inevitable at this point. koavball keeps mentioning him as well. I would be shocked if he committed elsewhere.

Ok, I was confused for a moment there. I thought you were pertaining to a Greek recruit. That's not a Greek name. You were talking about a middle recruit.

Late to the party, again. Caught a replay of the championship match yesterday on ESPNU with Long Beach (which I thought was live, smh.)
CONGRATUATIONS HAWAII on being 2022 national champs !! What an exciting game!! Men play so fast and point is over so quickly nonetheless Hawaii dominated.
If Hawaiian player no. 7 should stop playing, he should be a model for Calvin Klein.

Obviously you know I don't follow Hawaii men's team, and I'm trying to figure out what makes them so good. Are elite high school players flocking to Hawaii? and if so, why aren't more women doing this. Is most of the men's team homegrown? What is your opinion to their success?

They have a couple of international players, 8 local Boys and a couple of mainland kids. The chemistry is simply on point with this program and it has helped produce 2 national titles with the potential for a 3rd straight with every single starter returning. So we see. But it's the chemistry they have that's the winning key. And they love Hawaii with everything in them. A bunch of the international boys could leave right now and make good money in the pros. But they stick around for the program, fans and state of Hawaii.

What is your opinion to their success? for the women's side, it just has to do with there are tons of other better women's collegiate teams that are just simply better than the women's team at UH. if the women's team could replicate the success that the men's side does, then more and more elite high school players would commit to hawaii.

Not 100% accurate but close. UH womens were well on their way towards a major uptick but injuries and covid made a big negative impact on the program, likely more than any other team overall in the NCAA. But yes there is a lot more parity in the women’s games and power 5 schools have invested more or less into their facilities more than UH has.
