Nolan Flexen the 6 8” GCU recruit left the team in his first semester and is now at UC Irvine Someone posted a while back the GCU coaches all wanted him to play Middle. Guess he landed as an Oppo on the U 21 USA volleyball team - I guess that speaks volumes about the two groups of coaches. Good for him to leave to another, better school and play the position you got recruited to play. Heard from somebody close to the program that the primary reason for him leaving was not related to volleyball at all. Culture clash where he didn't believe he was a good fit at GCU.

Seems like a solid athlete from a homeschooled Christian background would end up fitting right in at the top performing Christian faith-based Men’s Volleyball program. However, UCI definitely needs the boost at the right pin AND in the middle.

It would appear he's left? No longer playing indoor. If you Google "Diego Perez volleyball" and scroll down, you'll see a link for an old blog post of his. It's been taken down now but the preview says he was considering transferring to USC because Pepperdine was too expensive. The blog is still active with only one post about his faith and journey toward teaching. IG doesn't mention anything recent about him playing indoor (only beach) either.

Which sucks because that was an amazing pickup for GCU as a program. I hope he finds a good home at Irvine and I hope GCU can thrive with the kids they're bringing in.

WOW!!! I no longer think UCLA is the top team in the country to open next season. That is a huge loss for them. Partain will fill in nicely with time, but to lose the best setter in the country really hurts. USC just thrust themselves into the top fifteen, maybe even top ten. He was arguably the best all around setter in the country last year and is a significant upgrade from Hall. I'll bet no one is happier about this than David Hunt. Pepperdine may have just taken over as favorite in the MPSF. Anyone know the status on Jaspers transferring to Pepperdine? Jasper does not move the needle that much lol boy has been overated for so long. He’s at Pepp and it’ll be very interesting to see Jasper with a different supporting cast

Carter Depue is not one of the 7 who are transferring. I guess that means he's staying another year at OCC...? Does anyone know different?

I don’t get why some of you get offended by my assumption. He has graduated from Stanford. He got what he attended Stanford for in the first place. He only has one more year to play. Returning to Stanford would be status quo since Stanford was expected to fold and probably didn’t recruit…not to mention their star(Jaylen Jasper) moving on to Pepperdine. Stanford will be in a rebuilding year. What is wrong with him wanting to go elsewhere? It’s happening all over college athletics. You have a starring linebacker from Tennessee transferring to Alabama. You have a power forward from Harvard transferring to Ohio State and a Harvard point guard spending his last year at Seton Hall. Our own UH basketball team have lost many players due to them wanting to play at a higher level and be part of a more established program. It’s silly to get all worked up over my assumption. I never insulted the young man. My assumption is all based on what is going on in the college landscape with student athletes trying to better their final year of college eligibility and see if they can get more out of their final year. Seriously Gramps, you should just stick to the womens board.

This men’s board has seriously turned into a bunch of Wahine fans jumping on the mens bandwagon and turning it into a womens-type (AKA Rainbow Wahine) wonderland. It’s a mirror image of how “bad” that womens/Wahine board is.
