I don’t know much statistics wise about passing etc. would you say Plummer’s numbers are good or bad? This is her first real opportunity with the senior group. They're not great, but they're fine. 60-70% positive and 30-40% excellent would be a very good day. She was served relentlessly. That alone can make people really break down. I wonder if she'll get the nod against Brazil tomorrow. Canada's server looking at the coach and mouthing 'Plummer?" was iconic. |

Also, to note she was hidden in the serve receive formation for the majority of her time in Japan. In Italy, I don’t recall her being a part of the serve receive formation either. Even at Stanford, she was hidden for a few rotations. So really, this is her first major international competition where she’s receiving serve (and not being hidden for like 4+ rotations). Hopefully, with more reps and better angles/footwork/touch, she will get better. I think she has strong hand passing, so that could be something she utilizes more going forward. I haven’t seen a bunch of shankzillas from her, a lot of her bad passes are at least salvageable / settable |

That’s what happens when 8 players retire just before the first VNL they would have ever played in. Guaranteed this team looks very different if Black is still at the helm or they post the position. Winzer is out of her depth. I would have preferred Black and that coaching staff at least stay on for the VNL. It would have brought a little more stability for the program. I want to agree that Winzer is not at the same level as Abbondanza and Black. I am a little confused at Gray as libero? But, I think so far she seems to have realistic expectations for the team while still trying to push them. I’m just not sure she is the coach that can really capitalize on this VNL experience and push this team to a higher level. I agree. Really a huge mistake to not send the team equipped to capitalize on a VNL experience. To be fair they’ve played Brazil and the USA who very much out of their league though. Maybe things will look better agains some of the other teams but it’s apparent even in the dialogue in timeouts Winzer has no solutions |

And even if it’s serviceable, she’s a monster at the net. She can score against anyone. |
