Going into Gstaad, the top 8 seeds should be, based on entry points:
1. Norway - 3460 2. Qatar - 2960 3. Czech - 2640 4. Evandro/Bruno - 2420 5. Germany - 2360 6. Rossi/Carambula - 2160 7. Semonov/Leshukov - 2080 8. Krattiger/Breer - 1480 (host nation gets 8 seed for top team if they're not in top 8)

Cribb and T2 will both safely be in the top 20 in entry points (1760 entry points each). No CQ for either of them.
The CQ will presumably be Petterson/Budinger (1240) vs the winner of Brunner/Schalk (1230) and Kolinske/Evans (1100). We'll see if Casey plays or not.

Dalcena and Cribb have dropped.
We might only have T2 in the MD and everyone else in Q.

I know that Gstaad isn't exactly on the way to Tokyo, but I would have thought that they would have wanted a tune-up before the Olympics started. I hope T2 comes out with something to prove and comes up with a good result!
The entry list should be finalized this week, so we will see which teams have enough points to make the Q. Would love to see Allen/Benesh get in! They are signed up for the 2* in Rawanda the following week, so it might be their chance to actually go out on the road and get some matches under their belt as a team.

In another thread, it’s mentioned that ranking points are not awarded here. I guess that was the dealbreaker for the 3 teams headed to the Olympics.

Does that mean no points are awarded at all, or just that they won't help teams rankings going into the Olympics? It's still a 4*, so I would assume that the rules for points and prize money would be the same as all the other 4*s, even though it's not an Olympic qualifying event.

It’s not officially released by FIVB yet, so I wouldn’t say it’s 100% confirmed (as of today). The Olympics ranking points have already been frozen as of today. The federations are just “finalizing/submitting” the teams who will represent each country in the Olympics and all that’s left are the Continental Cups to determine the last 5 teams from each continent in each gender. Correct, the prize money of Gstaad would be typical of a 4* event, $20k to the winners, etc. But, this is less than typical years because Gstaad in previous years have always been part of the Major series and those offered higher paychecks and more ranking points.

Getting caught back up on some threads, and I found the one you were referencing. They were talking about not giving out any points for Doha last year when all the restrictions were coming down, but they ended up going ahead with it. Carambula/Rossi ended up not being able to leave Italy, but the tournament went on and points were given out. It would be a shame for all the teams who do show up for Gstaad if they don't get rewarded. It's already downgraded from a 5* to a 4*. volleytalk.proboards.com/thread/83816/entry-points-womens-after-ostrava?page=4

Canada and Brazil still in it.

There are so few opportunities this year for the players, it would be crazy to not award points to the teams who follow all the protocols and jump through all the hoops to be eligible to play. I could see why a team who is going to the Olympics could weigh the risks and decide it's not worth it. A false positive test, like Mol had, and now you're not going to the Olympics.

Not sure about the other three teams, but Ateam is fully vaxxed (I think).

Seeding is out! T2 is currently sitting in the 18th spot, and that would put them in pool B with Qatar and Samoilovs/Smedins if nothing changed from here on out. BVTEP is right ahead of them at 17th, so assuming Ermacora is still hurt and won't be able to play, they will move up at least one spot. That would put them in Pool A with the Vikings and Andre/George.
Looks like no CQ on the men's side. Budinger/Patterson are currently Q8, with Schalk/Brunner right behind them at Q9. If nothing changes, they would be in the same flight and potentially have to play each other to make the MD, but if one team ahead, like BTVEP drops, they will no longer have a chance of playing each other. Evans/Kolinske are down at Q13.
Brazil, Germany, and Russia do have CQs, so depending on which teams win those, the seeding could change farther in the Q. We will see how many teams drop out from here.
