Could Hughes submit for dual Citizenship with Canada for the sake of being Brandi's partner? I know that's way out there.. but looks like there's quite a long line for blockers in the US. She could. But there’s a 2 year waiting period, which would probably not put her in the conversation for Paris 2024. If anything, I think Brandie and Mel would form a new partnership post Tokyo.

sort of off topic, but does anyone else wonder how Kolinske would do with a more consistent partner? I am really curious to see what a Kolinske/Hughes pairing would do... I have zero doubt that the results would be better than Kolinske/Stockman. Now that Stockolinske is out for Tokyo...hmmm. Larsen will get her 2 or maybe 3 blocks per set, and Hughes will set her more consistently, plus Hughes would makes fewer in system sideout errors. I think Kelley and Sara should just partner up right away. Stockolinske are going to be in CQ anyways for Gstaad as they don’t have enough entry points.

I kinda thought she outplayed Brandi.

Funny how Sara/KWJ was also put out there for just Gstaad. I don't know if Kolinske/Stockman have an agreement to play through July, and Kolinske dumping Stockman for Gstaad may be contrary to their commitment to each other.

I know Kelley and Emily are preparing for AVP but I don’t see any schedules out yet. Meanwhile Hughes is struggling with Em Day to make it out of CQ. http://instagram.com/p/CP0jidssqzj

From Sara Hughes' perspective, not sure she would want Kerri to play AVP. Hughes can partner with Wilkerson in AVP, and with KWJ for FIVB. As the above poster noted, perhaps do that for a year, then Hughes can see if Kloth, Jones or Van Winden develop enough to partner with her for a Paris run. Assuming Alix hangs it up to watch Opra and eat bon bons in her new home, April will also be in KWJ's position. No way in hell those two patch up and play. I think Kim Hill would be an awesome April partner if she decides the money and body wear of Indoor needs to stop. I do not believe that KWJ's current performance would allow KWJ/Hughes to qualify for Paris. KWJ's matches recently have been rife with Option pokeys out, routine in system hits 2' past the back line, routine hits 2' wide of the sideline, etc. etc. It isn't only Brooke that bombed in Ostrava. Regarding her block pull, she was once so much better than every other blocker. That was years ago. Every blocker does serious practice time on that and many are better than KWJ at that skill now. Mentally KWJ still has that fire and focus, but physically the sideout skills have diminished quite a bit. The game moves on. I would pick Clancy over KWJ straight up. If Claes is focused, her too. KWJ might not even be better than Kolinske in 2021. Totally agree with everything here. I haven't been a huge Ateam fan but I will be sad if Alix retires already. I feel like she's just reaching potential and could easily go for another quad. But maybe her body's not holding up or she doesn't like the arduous travel/lifestyle. Does anyone know how legitimate the rumors are that she's done after Tokyo? I love the Kim Hill idea tho! She's such strong all around player (IMO) and our US womens indoor have so many strong outsides, it'd be so beneficial to the beach side to have some transition and for them professionally too b/c many will never get the chance to play on the Olympic indoor team. How does money compare tho? Obviously on the beach you're really not guaranteed much unless you're winning, but how much are indoor players making playing professionally overseas (range of pay at least)? I think it'd be unfortunate to see KWJ end here like this, but I agree her level of play is really not that great anymore. I honestly think her play looks lazy a lot of times and tries to minimize the amount she actually has to do. She jerks her arms late in serve receive or tries to end a rally with a quick bump over the net on two that I honestly have not seen be successful from her at all this quad. She should have been stealing every middle ball (and more) from Brooke in Ostrava and Sochi yet it was Brooke who took some from her. KWJ would need a very strong partner that's terminal. Sara Hughes is definitely not that and I don't see them being successful at all together.

I’ve been intrigued about Kim Hill transitioning to the beach, but unfortunately this is more false rumors rather than reality…
Kim Hill is not very open about her personal life, so no one really knows what she’s doing post Olympics. She made the indoor team once again for the Olympics though!

I think if Hughes partners with Walsh Jennings, it would help Hughes a lot especially for the future. Partnering with Walsh Jennings could make her improve for the next Olympic qualifiers.

I find it improbable that an elite Indoor OH would feel a need to move to Beach, unless'
1) she did not make the USA Olympic Indoor Team, and wants the experience of representing the USA in an Olympic Games. 2) for a very particular and non-financial reason (Reid Priddy falls in this category on the men's side), she is willing to work very hard for a small portion of the money she made in Italy or elsewhere playing OH Indoor. Meaning from hundreds of thousands to less than one hundred thousand first year out. I mean it is really comparable to retiring as a physician to take up Nursing as a career.
Clearly Alix had the first reason. But once she's accomplished that, that's a box ticked off. That's why I tend to understand the comment that she will not continue in Beach after Tokyo.
Whether Kim Hill or Jordan Larson feel like continuing the grind for not that much pay... remains to be seen. I find it improbable that either has to work to make ends meet.

Couple of things about that Instagram ... first, she did not mention Stockman by name. "Time to work toward some new goals" is not exactly "time for US to work toward some new goals".
I don't know if Kelley realizes the position of power she is in right now. Hughes, IMO, is hers if she wants her. At Stockman's age alone, not even considering her capabilities, she is not a suitable partner for a Paris run. Larsen is still improving. If I'm with Team Kolinske, I'm asking whether waiting until after Tokyo is a necessary courtesy in order to "work toward some new goals". Gstaad is quite doable with Hughes.

The appeal of the beach is being able to spend more time at home and the autonomy. If Hill is burnt out on playing overseas and the national team grind, it wouldn't surprise me to see her (or Larson or even more likely Kelsey Robinson) give it a go. I'd also be curious as the relative endorsement income of Klineman or Pavan vs. the indoor stars. I think Hill could be a game-changer on the beach so hoping she gives it a shot.
