I find it improbable that an elite Indoor OH would feel a need to move to Beach, unless' 1) she did not make the USA Olympic Indoor Team, and wants the experience of representing the USA in an Olympic Games. 2) for a very particular and non-financial reason (Reid Priddy falls in this category on the men's side), she is willing to work very hard for a small portion of the money she made in Italy or elsewhere playing OH Indoor. Meaning from hundreds of thousands to less than one hundred thousand first year out. I mean it is really comparable to retiring as a physician to take up Nursing as a career. Clearly Alix had the first reason. But once she's accomplished that, that's a box ticked off. That's why I tend to understand the comment that she will not continue in Beach after Tokyo. Whether Kim Hill or Jordan Larson feel like continuing the grind for not that much pay... remains to be seen. I find it improbable that either has to work to make ends meet. The appeal of the beach is being able to spend more time at home and the autonomy. If Hill is burnt out on playing overseas and the national team grind, it wouldn't surprise me to see her (or Larson or even more likely Kelsey Robinson) give it a go. I'd also be curious as the relative endorsement income of Klineman or Pavan vs. the indoor stars. I think Hill could be a game-changer on the beach so hoping she gives it a shot. Exactly - endorsements. My guess is, aside from the obvious ones like Kerri and April, there are a few nice deals with other players, maybe not spectacular but nice, and maybe a few European players? Sending out a call to southbay11 ?

Ha, cool! She doesn't strike me as the type that would grab a signing bonus and then retire in a few months. Maybe the injury issue is real and this new deal, in addition to her just being a competitor, was another "pro" as she weighed all the factors and has apparently? decided to press on.

...Although I guess Chipotle could have just a limited, Olympics focused campaign in mind Potentially, although I feel like she might not call it "TEAM CHIPOTLE" in her post then and would make more mention of the olympic games specifically.

Kim Hill just played a long indoor season, went directly to the VNL, and then will be in the Olympics. I would be floored if she jumped into something else without a long time off. That's really tough on your body and mental state. #2 is the big kicker. It takes a huge amount of mental toughness, drive, and sacrifice to go pro in beach. Obviously Kim Hill has drive and then some because she's so successful indoors, but like dunninla says, there would have to be some super specific desire for beach. She already has money and success. Beach is less physically tough on your body, but still very taxing in other ways. TBH if Alix stays I wouldn't count on Hill making Paris. She'd have to learn the beach game, and it would be a big ask to pass Claes and Klineman in just three years (and that's if she took no break at all). She'd start out behind Kolinske and potentially Kloth as well. She's also 31, so 2028 is a very big ask, and she'd be 35 for Paris. That being said I would absolutely love for Hill to do beach! She has such a good game. I think as an outside she'd have an easier time than David Lee. Plus, she's a big name in volleyball. Her playing would attract attention from indoor players. I really, really hope the rumors are true, but putting a damper on my own expectations.

Yeah, those are good points. Let's hope! They're a great pair to watch.

...Although I guess Chipotle could have just a limited, Olympics focused campaign in mind Correct. It’s an Olympic performance deal. That’s the way these deals are trending. There are several of them in the works with different players. This is when the player and brand can maximize exposure in a short period. It’s a win win

Well I mean good for her, but I guess then it doesn't say anything about her possibly continuing on for another cycle. I think you said previously she's likely to retire after the Olympics unless I'm mixing this up with someone else. We can continue to hope though!

Kim Hill was the NCAA beach champion at Pepperdine thanks for bringing this up because I was unsure if I was remembering this correctly. With all the talk on this thread one might think she has never played a day of beach in her life. I will say though that I still think she would still have to have a remarkable transition to speed her beach game up to the international level despite winning NCAA’s and playing in college

Fun fact: Larson and Pavan also played in a beach tournament before for University of Nebraska and they won.

Kim Hill was the NCAA beach champion at Pepperdine I’m surely going to miss watching her play if she hangs it up after the Olympics. She’s had a very long season though. Barely 2-3 weeks in between the end of Imoco and flying back to Italy for VNL.

Imagine an Alix Klineman and Kim Hill partnership. Two 6’5” players sharing the court. 🤩

Kim Hill was the NCAA beach champion at Pepperdine I’m surely going to miss watching her play if she hangs it up after the Olympics. She’s had a very long season though. Barely 2-3 weeks in between the end of Imoco and flying back to Italy for VNL. Reading the tea leaves, I would guess this is Kim Hill’s last indoor Olympics. She’s not likely to be starting at OH and may not see much action at all. It seems like she only made the roster this time due to her experience and was chosen over other OH who are younger with more potential. At 31, I’d wonder if the national team would move on from her after Tokyo. Obviously she could continue playing pro club indoor, but if she has any aspirations of playing pro beach, now would seem to be the time to do it.
