I really like Germany. I think they're going to be up and coming into the CEV.
They're missing Lippmann. Also probably their best OH, Janiska, who went home with injury

Orthmann's pretty good. She's established herself as a solid OH in the Italian League. But I also don't picture this being much of a contest without Lippmann.

Orthmann's pretty good. She's established herself as a solid OH in the Italian League. But I also don't picture this being much of a contest without Lippmann. Orthmann's been a bit underwhelming to me in the VNL. (but she's not exactly getting consistent playing time or position wise (both OH and Opp) Pogany and Alsmeier are both good passers, as is Poll. Just no one on the team has the firepower that someone like Lippmann can provide. (I've not been impressed with Drewniok at all) Alsmeier and Weitzel will be the ones to watch. Both are Germany's best up and coming players imo. (both are 20) Felix's coaching has been... something.. this VNL. will be interesting to see what he does

Vanjak-Plummer reunion on deck It's interesting that both played LOH at Stanford, but Vanjak is listed as an OPP, and Plummer is better suited for the right. I always liked Vanjak on the right at Stanford.

I always liked Vanjak on the right at Stanford. Vanjak plays both. She plays OH for her club in France. She's filling in at Opp since Germany is missing their starter and Vanjak's passing... isn't great

Vanjak-Plummer reunion on deck Lol I hope Plummer plays. If not then we can pencil her in as an alternate (IMO we can probably already do that) but I’ll be disappointed if she doesn’t see some quality minutes this week.

USA should get this in 3. Germany didn't look good last week and they're missing more players (?)
