Ugh now I have to go re-watch the match to see if I can tell if Carlini knew before the match started today.

I'm glad JWO made it, but I do kinda feel for Courtney in a way. Tough situation to play libero all quad to not make it to the Olympics (like I get we had very few options, but still). JWO has been ahead within the gym for a while now. I posted about it last year.

How is Carlini, the most vocal of them about being an Olympian, not becoming one? I’m sad. Maybe because talk is cheap. Cheesehead Jesus has a mouth on her. That's never been a matter of doubt.

I’m starting to think Erin Virtue lied on the podcast. 🧐😏No way they were being evaluated for 7 or 8 matches (supposed to be 9) at VNL. This was probably already decided BEFORE they headed to Italy. Also, who would’ve thought that USA would be one of the first to publish the official roster??? I mean for VNL, we literally found out a week before. They might have needed to manage the team internally. Was there a Kumbay-breakdown as players started to suspect? Was this staff able to manage it?

“This roster announcement is a bittersweet moment, as we face a stark reminder that we cannot travel all 23 to Tokyo for battle, though they’ll all be there in our hearts and minds.” 😢 Damn, they've been eulogized. RIP to the fallen.

Not to take anything from Hancock and Poulter (I think they're both great and can possibly get the job done) but I feel for Carlini. Her overall body of work + play should have warranted her a slot.

Also, so happy for Justine. Not surprised though, she’s shown in the last two seasons, especially this one, that she should be the starting libero for USA

Ngl, I can't wait for Hancock to help win us a medal just to piss some of y'all off. We had three awesome options at setter who brought something a little different, and this is what the staff thinks will bring success. I'm going to root for it to pay off, especially now that the bed has been made. I don't see anyone discrediting Hancock at all. If any, it's just sadness for Carlini stans ugh.

SO excited for JWO and Chiaka. Also, Hancock earned her spot. She looked sharp running the offense against Germany.
