This is spot on. Ya “progressives” pushed me away from the democrat party. When democrats find this out they usually say “good” and “we will not miss you”. Good luck with those attitudes. Definitely did not become a Republican but more so a libertarian.

Masterclass from Maher in "inventing a guy to get mad at."
Also, imagine paying for a ticket to see Bill Maher.

The issue isn't that progress isn't being made. The issue is the backlash to that progress. THAT is what is getting worse. THAT is how Trump got elected.
I have no idea what Maher is getting at. Seems like a classic strawman to me. Who exactly is saying there has been NO progress? Kevin Hart??

Maher is an unfunny jerk. Doesn't mean he can't be right about things, but it does tend to mean that I don't pay attention to him or care what his opinion is.

Right? like lol who said this "But saying that White power and privilege is at an all-time high is just ridiculous." Even if, that’s what I don’t understand. Blue hasn’t talked about this issue in that manner. He’s explicitly said that white privilege should NOT be acknowledged. Maher isn’t saying that at all. So, I’m not sure what the point of this is. I haven’t even seen the attitudes that Maher expressed on this board, but let alone in my life. They’re soooo dramatic. This video reminds me of those long ignorant facebook rants, generally by the older population, where people respond “spot on” and make themselves look bad.

Why do people who refuse to recognize that white privilege and racism exist in the first place want credit for "progress" on that front?
Congrats on not actively burning crosses on people's lawns. You want a cookie?

Trump got elected because voters had an intense dislike of Hilary. Do you think for one second that Trump would've gotten elected if he ran against Obama's second term? It wouldn't have been close, Obama by a healthy margin.

Well, technically Trump got elected because we don't use popular vote to determine the President. So maybe, Trump got elected because voters [in certain states] had an intense dislike of Hilary.
Not sure how you can deny though that Trump's America was partly a reaction to our first black president.

It's been a while but did as many people vote for Hilary as did Obama? People who I knew that were openly Democratic Party were very much on the fence about voting for Hilary.

I think you answered your own questions. Obama won because of voter turnout. Trump won (and Hillary lost) for the same reason. Motivated voters make a difference.
And now that we are rigging the process, it's going to be even more true.
