Now that I believe the last round of tournaments have been finished, do we have any new thoughts on bjnc any teams that could have upsets or favorites to win?

Now that I believe the last round of tournaments have been finished, do we have any new thoughts on bjnc any teams that could have upsets or favorites to win? It seems like Balboa Bay U16 Blue is the best team in the U16 Open division. So many good talented boys from other teams as well for U16 Open. The SoCal Cup Showcase was really interesting to watch. Really nice to see a Florida team place 3rd in the U16 Open division. It's going to be an interesting BJNC for that age group.

Really nice to see a Florida team place 3rd in the U16 Open division. It's going to be an interesting BJNC for that age group. I think this year will be super diverse. Trying to see where some of the midwest teams have been playing. Milwaukee Sting hosted an event this last weekend and it looks like Academy 16 Adidas beat Milwaukee Sting 16-1s and MVC 16-1s. Academy 16 Adidas went on to win the 17s division there going undefeated. The Chicago teams are very quiet. Palos Summer Bash was extremely small for 16s with the pushed back state tournament and the Asics. You could tell with 630 struggling on Day 1. The two events going on in the Midwest this weekend are a tournament hosted by Ultimate in Chicago that are missing big names like Sports Performance, Adversity, Chicago Bounce etc. The Academy is also hosting a Pre-National. That seems to have Milwaukee Sting, Vanguard, High Performance 2s, Cincinnati Attack, and Louisville Fury. Other than that, it is so hard to tell how Kansas City will unfold in the 16s division giving how competitive this age group has been this season. Would love to be there to see this division particularly!

in 17 open, i think the clear favorite to win it all is Bay to Bay.
best front court in terms of blocking and attacking in the nation at that level and they really dominated every tournament they've been to this year.
the emergence of Moses Wagner, along with the upgrades at middle, are helping them tremendously.

Regarding upsets in the u16 division, the A4 Volley team can make a deep run in the tournament if they are firing from all cylinders. One of there outside's is very special on the offensive end, and the middles are very talented as well. The 16s division seems to be on a very even playing field, besides Balboa.

A4 is ok. Very predictable. They set the left side hitters way too much and rarely back set. They try so many lineups and they don’t have a leader on the team. 16u is Balboa’s to lose. Bay2bay is capable to medal as is 949, MB surf, Rockstar and Ocean Bay. But only an injury will stop Balboa.

An interesting team to watch on the 18s will be Vanguard. They won the Socal Showcase, knocking out Balboa Bay in the semis. Jonah Gilbert, a GCU commit and BYNTT selection, and their libero (UCLA commit, McDonough?) are solid, along with a 6'10 middle who dominated everyone this weekend. After watching them take down Balboa Bay, I definitely think they will be in the mix for the gold.

Unless the seedings are jacked up and someone draws a really bad pool, I think the results of 15 Open is going to look a lot like SCVA. Most of the top 15 teams ended up making it to the Vegas tournament. So unless teams were missing key players because of school or injuries, it was probably a pretty good preview of BJNC.

Would anyone know why the Chicago and Wisconson teams didn't go to the SoCal Cup Showcase? I saw that they were initially on the list and then they all dropped. Is it because they decided to go to the tournament at the Navy Pier? I'm guessing that would help their BJNC seeding? Outside of the St. Louis tournament this year they don't seem to play anyone else outside their region.

Bay to Bay 18-1 got an open AT Large bid.
surprising since they have a really talented roster, but they havent done well at bid tournaments this year.

Looks like AES is updated with the list of teams including at large bids.

Looks like AES is updated with the list of teams including at large bids. AES shows 17 teams as "pending" in 18 open, including B2B and one team I know blew up and won't attend. Part of the process for applying for an at large is to register with AES, so that doesn't mean much. FWIW, the QTL hasn't been updated with at larges, either.

Bay to Bay 18-1 got an open AT Large bid. surprising since they have a really talented roster, but they havent done well at bid tournaments this year. B2B 18-1s has a talented roster? Like who? They have 3 notable players in McFall, Liu, and Collins. Maybe... Olsson? There oppo is too small compete in gold bracket, and there OH1 is too small and simply isn’t athletic enough. There roster is average for an open team. NorCal 18s showed to be pretty weak, PacRim looked solid and might make gold but unlikely. 18s will be Socal teams and 352, maybe throw in Vanguard and AZ Fear into the mix and you got yourself your gold bracket. But B2B... I think there alot more talented rosters out there. I reckon that there 17s team can beat the 18s with ease This is my guess on medalists Rockstar, Balboa, 352 and MB Surf in that order
