We debuted what will likely be our starting Olympic lineup against Italy. Hope we get France's best look, which is likely Grebennikov, Toniutti, Chinenyeze, Le Goff, Patry, Ngapeth, and nepotism. This is a pretty good look ahead to a pool play clash at the Olympics. France is coming off a loss to the Dutch and will be looking to bounce back. I think this will be a good test for our serving and blocking against France's passing and offense respectively.

They have some pretty good guys behind the end line.

We need to make sure our passing can hold up.

I wish the website published more detailed stats for reception (like even just adding positive passing % which I know they keep cause they show it on the graphics) and for all the players and not just the "best" ones. I wonder how TJ holds up at least statistically. Anybody have an idea on what are good numbers for excellent passing/positive passing %s on the men's side? Based on the publicly accessible statistics, and as a reference since Japan is known for their ball control, Yamamoto has 51% excellent, Ishikawa has 44% excellent, and Takahashi has 45.5% excellent. Obviously the passing stats are limited and can be sus but just food for thought... I kinda want to know how TJ compares statistically to Jaeschke in the passing dept.

Idk where to find the stats, and I can't say much about the men. For the women, I think 40% positive is usually seen as very good, so I'd imagine for the men it's like 30%? Hard to explain idk.

Yeah I'm not really sure either as I'm not one who likes to do deep dives into statistics lol. Also, it looks like I misread the VNL website, they keep track of "Successful" passes whatever that means... I'm assuming that means excellent/perfect passes but maybe someone can clarify. JWO is at 83 successful / 170 total receptions. Yeah anyways, summary is I wonder how TJ compares to Jaeschke and even strong passing OHs on a team like Japan.

Thibault and Yacine only had +-16% efficiency against the Netherlands.

I'm not convinced yet TJ will be starting over Thomas. He did not pass well yesterday. Great hitter and he's young, but not sure he's olympic starter ready.

Taylor Sander will NOT be suited today.
Uh oh…
“It’s really good to be back, but I felt a little bit uncomfortable,” he said after scoring 14 points against the Italians. “I haven’t had too many days of actual training with the team so it was hard for me. I don't feel like I’m in very good shape and it will take me some time to get comfortable and play our system of volleyball.”

So it'll be Thomas and TJ today I bet.

He's battling an injury and doesn't want to make it worse.
