Ze basically threw yesterday by bringing in Dani Lins…. And he didn’t even try Roberta It is all part of the master plan.  Other than the Olympics experience, Dani Lins does not bring more to the table. Roberta is the better defender and server. Every time Brazil needed her, she did not disappoint. She makes a great a duo with Macris. |

Italy is going to Serbia to play 3 friendly games. Once in Japan, Italy is going to play 2 other friendly games (against who is not known yet). I'm surprised they're allowed to play in Japan. I wonder if it's Brazil or Japan. I don't think they'd do any team from Pool B. |

Italy is going to Serbia to play 3 friendly games. Once in Japan, Italy is going to play 2 other friendly games (against who is not known yet). Here's a short video with players training.
Italy had Orro, Egonu, Danesi, Sylla, C Bosetti, and De Gennaro playing together against a makeshift team of men and women whom I couldn't identify (0:30 mark, video is 360p).
Possible Olympic starting roster?

Lins got Hancocked. Roberta over Lins is a crime. Ze with some interesting choices. I thought we liked Roberta? I am happy she is going. I honestly would have left Bia at home too for Mayany, but that's just me. I think the last spot was between Mayany and Ana Cristina. I would prefer to take another middle, but Ana Cristina can be useful in blocking and serving. |

I do like her but somewhere along the line Ze committed to Macris who I still think is wildly mediocre. She literally set the best match of her life yesterday, IMO. That’s not a standard day in the office for a Macris. I just assumed he’d take Dani Lins because of her experience and ability to play solid ball. Now he’s taking two unknowns/untested at the Olympic level. Interesting choice. doesn’t Roberta connect the best with Tandara ? They need that. They need her to be consistently good throughout a match. She has a very common tendency to start off blazing hot and then completely disappear Roberta connects better with Tandara, especially the tempo and height of her ball. Macris is getting there though. Roberta has also good connection with Bia, Gabi, Ana Carolina and Natália (they all play together at Sesc Rio or Osasco at some point). |

Kind of surprised at no Fresco, but then again I don’t really follow them other than when they’re playing at tournaments 🤷🏻♂️ Maybe she’s injured or there were just straight up two better options ahead of her |

China/Japan played each other (pre-VNL)
Argentina are playing Croatia.
anyone else? Italy + mystery.
There were rumors of Turkey/Russia/Serbia

I posted this in the VNL thread but with that tournament over for women, I thought might get more responses here. With the Brazil lineup getting old and some major turnover happening soon. What do younger players look like ? Lot of talent or will they have a drop off. I’m not as familiar with international game as a lot of you. The future is bright to the point Ze Roberto wants to stick around for the next squad. We have a very promising generation (skills, physicality, height, fast tempo setting/hitting). Many new faces will debut at the VNL/WCh next year. We also have a new "Gabi" in the pipeline, Reach. |
