Updated Pool B race for #1:
Italy is #1 with 3-0 or 3-1 win over USA. USA is #1 if they beat Italy AND they do it in better fashion than Russia beats Turkey.
If Russia and USA both win their matches in the same manner, it comes down to Points Ratio, which Russia will likely win as they are already ahead. So Russia will likely be #1 if this happens.
Russia can also get #1 if Italy wins in 5 and Russia wins in 3. If Italy wins in 5 and Russia wins in 4, it comes down to Points Ratio, and it's too close to call at that point.

Is China mathematically eliminated already? I believe so? Because even if they beat Argentina in 3 or 4 (which I'm guessing they will) and Turkey loses to Russia in 3 or 4, I believe Turkey still takes the 4th place spot in pool because they won head to head against China.

Boils down to set ratio against Turkey.
Best CS for CHN: 8-9 SR Worst CS for TUR: 9-9 SR
TUR is locked.

I'm really upset with the coaching staff right now. There were a couple of baffling decisions. KRob is a good all-around player to backup Larson or Wong-Orantes in case of injuries, but not a terminal enough hitter. If it's true that Karch & co. don't trust Hill and Hancock enough to use them beyond serving subs, then they should've brought Wilhite-Parsons and Carlini. There is no excuse for bringing in players on a limited roster for a single skill set.

Is Hancock expected to produce an ace everytime she stands from the back line? And it hasn’t happened so she hasn’t been on court when needed?

Some general thoughts so far:
USA's Outsides have yet to pull their weight.
Larson has played decently but can no longer carry the team offensively. We know this. Karch prolly doesn’t.
MBH and Krob could not have had a worse tournament so far. Both have vastly underperformed. I had hoped MBH would just be lights out but the setting hasn't been ideal so there's that.
Hill really hasn't been effective as a SS yet. That foot fault though 😬😬😬
Poulter has not played even close to her best. I'm pulling for her, but Carlini should have been on this roster and we all know that. Sorry, hard truths hurt sometimes. Carlini and Poulter pushed each other to be better.
Hancock was unable to right the ship, though I think she should be given a chance to start just to see what happens but Karch would never.
JT started off on fire but was neutralized by TUR and then injured but is hopefully coming back. Will she be in top form though? I hope so.
Drews filled her role vs. TUR, but really didn't make an impact vs. RUS. To be fair, the whole team just collapsed and RUS played lights out.
Foluke hasn't been an offensive threat (due to setting) and has never been a shut down blocker.
Chi wasn't able to make the impact off the bench we had all hoped but I still think she should be starting.
Washington is doing her best to keep the teams energy up. She will be key to the teams success moving forward.
JWO is basically the only player who has showed up for the team consistently through pool play so far. All I can think about is the countless thread discussions about our libero "problem" over the past quad. It's comical really that this position if the only one that is performing well.
Bottom line. This team just cannot afford to be OOS a ton. We just don't have that OOS outlet on this roster. She was left at home.
I'm still pulling for this team but we have yet to play even close to our ceiling.
Also, if you would have told me that Brazil and Russia would look like two of the best teams in this tournament a year ago, I would have laughed you off this thread.
The extra year truly tossed a wrench into the loom for sure. These games have been weird.

I don’t understand why Hill hasn’t even been an option at OH. That’s the most boggling. If Krob can’t bring it… Hill is literally there
Anyways, #FreeSWP
