Lucas/Belov get the win with a run of great serving to end it. 15-13. Quarter, semi and final were all two point wins. Looked like Lucas got the jitters when they were up 11-9 and he got blocked twice and hit a ball out to go behind, but very satisfying win.
Amazing that a 5'8 guy can hit every ball crosscourt against excellent players and still do so well.
Also Belov looks like he just wandered out of a steam bath in Brighton Beach, but he jump served and got to the net all day long. How his rotator cuff is still intact is beyond me since his main offensive and serving strategies seem to be to hit the ball as hard as humanly possible. Too bad he gave up on the AVP so long ago, he could still make a little noise there if he wanted to commit to it (Hard to believe he was only 30 when he stopped playing)

Just incredible. Lucas was best defender on the grass all day long- maybe the best level of fitness during this long tournament. Side note: Nolan Albrecht is a specimen. Looked like baby Hudson on the grass

Austin/Schultz out to someone named Clayton, who also beat a Florida team? Any idea who Clayton is? Matt Clayton, played at UCLA a few years back. From Florida originally, played some NVLs as well Now living in Maryland

Belov's game is built for the old school grass. Even before the game starts, he just puts pressure on the other team that they need their A+ serving game since you know he is bringing it back there. Lucas played fantastic and was crushing the ball. There were times the sets seemed a tad inconsistent but Lucas was still adjusting well and hammering the ball.
Why did none of our 3's champs play the double tournament? I'm not sure anyone can actually handle three full days of grass old-school scoring, but it would have been great to see the attempt.

travismewhirter in on the grass game? Might be the closest we ever get to seeing what his indoor swing would look like. I was watching the semifinals, and Kyle Friend was playing with Brandon Joyner, not Travis. Does anyone have the link to the bracket for trips? I was looking all over Volleyball Life and couldn't find it.

Thanks! I must not have been patient enough. Hard to tell who's who except for Out of System. Not a lot of other names out there. Looks like Ma'a and the Worsleys ran through the field pretty easily. Started off bracket play with a 15-0 win.

Started off bracket play with a 15-0 win. I don't think the scores are accurate on the bracket, as OOS won 15-10 not 15-6 in the final. But regardless, they were dominant. They posted full trimmed matched of the finals, semis, and quarters on their YouTube.

Katie Spieler's injury looked bad when it happened. Hope she is ok, but that looked serious

OOS had a vendor booth for Saturday morning hung for a bit and hit the road. Talking to Gage and Joe after the finals- they plan on staying to play doubles next year as well.

is Katie spieler okay? how is her knee **Just heard from one of my Chick's "she's feeling positive about it, probably minor if anything' yay!! She came back to the site later, I spoke to her briefly and she was waiting on more info. That she came back seemed like a good thing, hoping she's OK.

Watching the videos, the block does not count as a contact in grass volleyball? Don't they use AVP rules?
