Sander played most of the 5th set and was subbed halfway through. Yea so stupid that he took out Taylor. Lost the match because of subs… 11 players got some work in. Christenson Ensing and Anderson Jaeschke, Sander, GM and DeFalco Smith, Holt and Stahl E. Shoji Next up Bulgaria and Japan then back home on Thursday

Slovenia just gets better every year, I hope their players will still be playing at a high level come Paris qualification. I think they should be. It’s tough being a European team when it comes to qualifying for the Olympics. They'll have better chance in 2024, probably 5 - 6 to as much as 8 European Teams as France is Hosting.

Why don’t the USA men crush these overpasses?

I guess 2021 won't be the year for USA mens volleyball.
Unlike other countries, this is the lineup of USA. No more surprises. These are the people that will be playing for the USA. And they've been trying so hard to win but keeps on failing. Christenson, Holt, Shoji, and Sander are the only ones I will keep.
1) Is Chemistry the problem? 2) Are there internal problems within the team? 3) Don't they have enough skills to be playing in the olympics?

I'd rather see Russell walking on crutches in Tokyo Olympics after Ensing's performance. lol

It’s like all the tools are there, but they’re not just working effectively with one another.

It’s like all the tools are there, but they’re not just working effectively with one another. tools are there but barely any excess if any. Other top 5 teams have much more depth and options. If the team is able to pull it all together; best case, I think there will still be some vulnerability at the OH2 and at least one of the MB. All the other positions have shown potential to soften as well, I was surprised Micah, E. Shoji, Anderson had as many subpar VNL games as they did but it was definitely a stress test for each and everyone. New baby for Micah and rotating lineups with hitters that need different sets, extended time off for Matt, a heavy lift for Erik to pass with multiple reception units and lift intensity for multiple lineups one after another... and despite all of this, against some top teams playing very well. I have faith that the USA men will come to play in Tokyo and the format and prep time is definitely going to benefit them more than many of the other teams. They definitely aren't peaking at the moment, it would be awesome for them to gather momentum in pool play and explode into playoffs. I can see it happening, they have the experience and maturity.
