Oh boy I'm sure there is a lot of celebrating and frustration going on right now depending on if you drew the Maple/Kraft side of the bracket or not. It's a wide open race for the 2nd spot. I'm surprised at so few college freshman in this tournament.

I'm surprised at so few college freshman in this tournament. I’d think the frustration would be not getting the Kraft/Maple side as most of the bigger names are on the other side, including college players Hodel/Reilly, Firnett/Ramirez, and Tessa Van Winkle. Most of the more renowned incoming freshmen and 2022 commits are on the lower half as well: most of the USC/UCLA/Stanford commits. The upper half also has plenty of college recruits too, but maybe less famous ones.

The upper half also has plenty of college recruits too, but maybe less famous ones. Well in this case, I don't think the primary goal is to place high. Rather, it's to get silver that will likely include a paid trip to Thailand for the U19 World Championships. 3rd just get's you designated as the alternate, with no trip. Anybody on the Maple/Kraft side is ultimately doomed as far as the trip goes. Wouldn't surprise me if Belardi/Standage came from behind to take second. This team dominated the junior beach circuit when they were younger. Thomas/Truslow beat Jessica Smith/Doucet a few weeks ago. That team had won gold in national championships the last four seasons. I suppose Hodel would the front runner, but Hashman and VanWinkle teams have a shot too. Problem I'm seeing, many of these players don't play that much anymore, and didn't at all during the COVID lock down, while some of these players never really missed a beat. So there's been some movement back and forth on who can beat who.

Is there a list anywhere of the college affiliations (including commitments) for the players entered?

Hbmb10k, good point about getting silver for the trip and opportunity to represent! While I’m rooting for Kraft/Maple, I wouldn’t call them a lock for first.
Beachcomber, there’s no easy list to access, but I was curious and spent a little time using google. Some of the players listed were knocked out in the pool round. Numbers are the HS graduation year. I didn’t list players already on college rosters, but the only one not mentioned above is Emmy Sharp from Stanford and she was knocked out in the pool round.
FSU - Ashley Vincent (22), Carra Sassack (22), McKenna Flaherty (22) Hawaii - Ciara Cantlen (22), Megan Widener (21), Portia Sherman (22) Cal - Marilu Pally (22), Jenna Colligan (22), Alexandria Young (21) Tulane - Simone Gibson (22), Ava Guerra (21), Alana Witting (21), Kara Griffin-Ruwin (21) Florida Gulf Coast - Anna Long (21) USC - Colby Bennett (21), Mabyn Thomas (22), Tatiana Rusich (21), Ava Kirunchyk (21), Delaney Karl (22), Bailey Showalter (22) TCU - Hailey Hamlett (21) Stanford - Camdyn Doucet (21), Taylor Wilson (21), Serena Turner (21), Kelly Belardi (22), Emma Morris (21), Avi Vetter (21) Houston Baptist - Abby Reinard (21) UCLA - Macey Butler (22), Ensley Alden (22), Jayla Shanks (22), Sophie Moore (21), Katelyn Hashman (22), Natalie Myszkowski (21) Long Beach State - Taylor Hagenah (22), Julia Westby (22) Pepperdine - Mari Wright (22), Savannah Standage (22) Cal Poly - Isabella Martinez (22), Piper Ferch (21), Ella Connor (21), Addie Bounds (22) LMU - Chloe Hooker (22), Elizabeth Davis (22) Utah - Keira Sheehan (21) Boise State - Aris Vetter (21) No commitment yet (that I could find): Sophie Kubiak (22) Ella Gray (21) Ella Duffner (22) Ivanna Rivera-Vargas (24?) Wow. Rusich/Kirunchyk defeat Standage/Belardi. The junior dynasty has ended. lol
Now these 2021 USC commits will play 2021 UCLA commits and I don't think it well for them.

I did not have time to do all that research - I appreciate you doing it for us. It's nice to see so many different schools represented. It's so important for the growth of the game. Good luck to all the players - looking forward to all the post-analysis!

And I’m surprised that the CalPoly/LMU pair of Martinez/Hooker took down the UCLA pair of Hashman/Myszkowski for third place. This is after Kraft/Maple whipped Martinez/Hooker 21-8, 21-12. Nice bounce back, ladies!

Congratulations to the Stanford pair of Hodel/Reilly for winning the USAV U19 championship and earning the right to represent the USA in Thailand. A great showing for all the players, present and future of Stanford in this tournament.

Congrats to Hodel/Reilly. I was surprised when Xolani was passed over for the USAV National Collegiate Team for her teammate Charlie Ekstrom.
“Second-place finishers will receive a trip to compete at the 2021 FIVB U19 World Championships, provided the FIVB allows the U.S. a second team slot.”
So second place is not a guaranteed trip…

Here’s the USAV write up by Kyle Scholzen for the U19 Trials. Link has some photos of the players. usavolleyball.org/story/beach-u19-national-team-selected/COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (June 25, 2021) – USA Volleyball is proud to announce the Beach U19 National Team, which was decided at the U19 FIVB World Championship Trials June 22-24 in Huntington Beach, Calif.
