Congratz to Norway! Happy to see them win! I'm also happy that the three best teams made it onto the podium. Which has not always been the case in past Olympic Games.
I hope Mol stepping on Krasilnikovs foot didn't slow down Krasilnikov too much. Looked like he moved ok though but maybe mentally it affected him a bit. But Norway played a pretty much perfect game anyway. I'm very impressed how Mol sided out. He had some issues earlier this year and earlier in the tournament as well but he looked spot on in the finals

Got to be a weight off their shoulders to finally beat Russia in a big match. Norway beat Russia in the last European championship final (making Norway the European champions for the third year in a row)

Incredible side-out performance by Norway! They had big Stoyanovsky's block to deal with, as well as Russia going for hard jump serves, and they sided out like champs. Congratulations Norway!

I agree, especially Mol was super impressive. Krasilnikov didn't even come close to dig a ball. Sorum looked a bit more human but still took care of business

Mol put on a clinic. That was one of the most impressive displays I've seen put on at that level of competition. He was being served and blocking and took over the match. Phil could do that blocking in his prime, but was never served. While not as impressive as the Chinese diver, it was close!!!

Sorum is one of the biggest experts at hitting on the line, you will ever see. His aim is amazing. They both have a great sideout. Serving could improve.

While in a vacuum sorum might not be a better sideout player then Mol, Sorum is a better passer than Mol, and Mol Is a MUCH better setter than sorum. So serving Sorum hardly gets them OOS and almost always results in a clean set for Sorum. Serving Mol on the other hand, there's a higher chance the serve gets shanked or that the set is less than ideal.

Serving Mol on the other hand, there's a higher chance the serve gets shanked or that the set is less than ideal. this. Sorum is a great passer, Mol sets him up perfectly each time and Sorum sees the block very well. I feel like one of the most frustrating things for a blocker is when your opponents crushes the ball down the line every time you block angle. That forces the blocker to keep blocking line and kinda takes him out of the game. However one of the main reasons that teams have been serving Mol is probably that he struggled a bit with passing and he also made more mistakes than Sorum. Especially after he came back from the injury. However if he's able to consistently side out like he did in the gold medal match then I'm sure teams will soon serve Sorum again. Mol simply has too many options/angles and hits the ball too high for a lot of blockers.
