Hawaii finished 1st, SB 2nd Poly 3rd Bake 4th LB 5th (or tied for 5th) Irvine will finish tied for 5th if they win, or tied for 6th with Full if they lose to Bake - the only drama left now other than how many frequent flyer miles Hawaii gets Fullerton Tied for 6th or 7th (probably the best Fullerton finish in quite some time. Davis/SD tied for 8th North 10th Riverside 11th.
in the end, not a lot unexpected, other than Bake surprising, and Davis pretty mewh
huge room for improvement next season, and see if there's more coaching changes other than LB, looking mostly in Davis and IRvine's direction on that aspect

Congrats to UCSB on winning tonight. I think they should accept the NIVC (most likely they will) to see how far they have improved since pre-season.

If not, Hernandez may go back to being an assistant coach at UCI. LOL

The Fullerton head coaching spot is also open. Interesting that former LB standout Nicole Proster (Vargas), is the interim head coach.
interesting thing about Sabrina is that her record as a head coach (granted one month) is much better than her record as an assistant.
granted, how assistants contribute is linked to whoever their head coach is
don't know why Hain would bring back Sabrina, having her let her go once already

Too bad UCSB will not make the NCAA tourney. I think by sweeping Hawaii they proved they are the best BW team despite having one more conference loss. However, Hawaii is the champion and hopefully they can pull off an upset or two.

Sabrina did a good job under some difficult circumstance but I would like to see a new coach with some new ideas come in. I would also like to see Sabrina retained as an assistant if that is something she would like to do going forward. It is my understanding that Sabrina left UCI and was not let go by Hain.

And they walk away with bragging rights for the season, even if a win or share of the Co ference title was out of reach. They return a lot of weapons. They are young! Lots of frosh and sophs in the lineup. Ohwobete and Bross were fun, but painful to watch shredding the Hawaii defense last night.

UCSB will indeed be THE team to watch out for next year with CP not too far behind. Next year's Big West will really be a battle and whoever wants to win will have to prove it.

I agree, UCSB will return the most firepower next season. Rowan Ennis will be missed but I think Wilson will do just fine (or better). Also their freshmen hitters are ballers.

IMO- UCSB and CP is the one to beat next season, unless team Hawaii comes back next season with improvements on OH and Opp position. Hawaii don't have a power hitter on both sides. GOOD LUCK Hawaii....

Not sold on CP just yet. Maia coming off a season ending injury is a big question mark. Not all players are able to get back to the level of play before they were injured. Setter is gone, though replaceable. Passing was suspect when I watched them.
I think UH and SB are in their own tier. CP and Long Beach in their own tier. Don't really care about the rest of the conference.

GOOD LUCK Hawaii.... The same battle cry, same outcome. UCSB utilizes one-tempo sets. For the lefts, What I call a hybrid Hut-shoot set, for the oppo, a back red-shoot set, and the middles a hybrid zero tempo one's and 31's. A few times I saw a hybrid half-shoot 32's. Hawai'i couldn't get the passing going after the first set as precise as they needed to be to open the outsides up by running a middle attack. UCSB triple blocked the middles as much as they could and Hawai'i was frustrated with that game plan. The Gauchos hitters love to hit deep even when they are out of system. The balls kept landing right inside the backline with no one defending that area. I think Hawai'i got a little into their heads with all the pressure built into the match. The seniors were playing and focusing as hard as they could, just looked a little preoccupied in lapses. That's okay. They can learn from this match as they go dancing!!! I am pretty sure UCSB will get an NIVC invite.

Wilson and Ennis played great. 5 of their 8 blocks on the UH middles were one on one.

Hawaii middles don’t have real shots and just pretty much hit where they are facing or wherever Lang’s set leads them. I’m sure Igiede will learn from this experience but Williams just never did.

Wilson and Ennis played great. 5 of their 8 blocks on the UH middles were one on one. They did triple block the middles at least in set two. They also bunch set the left’s and had Waggoner or Brook wide open with a d set hybrid which in the first set and fourth set fooled the blockers just enough. After the second set, Lang kept setting super-low sets to the middles either from not precise enough passes or not being fast enough to get to the middles. Those low sets made our middles, especially Amber, tip over the blockers, of course, they were in her face so she probably tried tipping since she got roofed previously. We also solo-roofed their middles. It's going to happen when you are trying to shut the middles down. I think the match last night took some energy out of the girls, not an excuse but a reality. But going dancing will help heal the loss.
