Should know soon if it is happening. If it does, the Big 12 is dead. The Big 12 would probably raid the AAC. Cincinnati/Houston/SMU for basketball and football quality plus maybe UNLV and San Diego State for their markets?

That would give the SEC 16 teams. Do they want to get that big and does Texas want to give up the Longhorn Network? would the conference split into halves then? Also Texas Kentucky and Florida in one conference sounds nice

UNLV?….their academic are lousy and their football is picked to finish last in the Pacific Division of the MWC. SDSU, maybe but would the BIG 12 teams want to travel all the way to San Diego? I think West Virginia will vote “NO” to SDSU. BYU would be a better option than SDSU….geographically, academically and financially. BYU will eventually have to join a conference. Remaining an independent will not help BYU get into the college football playoff.

Doesn't Oklahoma have a state law that OU & OSU have to be in the same comferance? No. Some believe that the Oklahoma politicians would throw a roadblock into it, but I think that's doubtful. Historically most key politicians in Oklahoma are OU grads. I suspect any attempt would end up with an agreement by OU to play OSU in an OOC game. U could B right; I thought OU & Ku were interested in going B1G!

Once again, Texas and Oklahoma are trying to upset conference alignment with threats to leave the Big 12 conference. 2010 all over again. The rest of the Big 12 should not give concessions, because apparently this is will happen every 10 years or so until they do leave.

Financially-speaking, yes, OU is very upset that they earn less in TV revenue than SEC programs like Vanderbilt and Ole Miss, and B1G programs like Rutgers and Purdue.
Competitively-speaking, they've ruled the Big 12 in football more often than not.
So, leaving for the SEC gives them a lot more revenue, but winning a conference football championship will be much harder than what they've been accustomed to.

I think it’s a good move for Texas and OU. Good for them. I am getting a little sick conference realignment though. 🤷♂️

OU is still tied at the hip to UT. Either they are trying to strong-arm the rest of the conference again, or they are serious. Either way the rest of the big 12 should do nothing to stop them.

Be nice to see them in a competitive spirit again!

What did OU and Texas demand?
Don't try to rewrite history. Mizzou was the first Big 12 school which started playing footsie with another conference (Big 10). Texas, OU, OSU, A&M, Texas Tech, and Colorado were ALL in talks with the PAC about joining their conference. Nebraska did what it had to do to not get left out of a major conference.

Sorry, but Nebraska and Colorado left in 2011 after UT-OU wanted a statement of loyalty even though they were trying to move to the PAC. A&M and Missouri left in 2012.
