Michael Phelps calling some of the races tonight.
And there’s about 1/2 hour between now and the USA vs ARG match anyways 😬

Team USA just won its first gold AND silver medal at the Tokyo Olympics.
Chase Kalisz and Jay Litherland going 1-2 and fitting that Michael Phelps to call the race. His World Record still remains unbeaten though.

It's pretty cool they have the family watch party footage to show the athletes post race. The emotions are great.

What's the swimmer called who wears the different color cap? Male? Female? Don’t recall seeing a swimmer with duo colored caps.

With a "this is a volleyball forum" joke. However, the lady next to me on the couch insists that the "kicker" is a special position on the swimming team and whomever is best suited for it wears a different colored cap. Contrasting and all that, etc. The kicker may not use their arms except to touch the timing pad and may not send splash over the lane ropes unless they are completely below the height of the water.

I don't know if its an NBC decision or if the footage is an international feed, but the camera angle edits in swimming are just awful. I don't recall them doing this before. Just keep the long view for the race so we can see where everyone is in relation to each other. Instead, they edit to an underwater angle during the turns, then during the race often switch to an overhead shot (where the swimmers are in the reverse order of the long side shots) and, even worse, sometimes to an angle in front of some of the swimmers where we have zero frame or reference as to where everyone is--which is especially unforgivable during the final length of the race. The commenters are often trying to point something out and "circle" a racer with their "TV pen," but the shot switches so frequently that it's futile.
Meanwhile, NBC gives us sporadic U.S. men's gymnastics coverage in primetime, failing to show us Sam Mikulak's parallel bars routine that qualified him for the event final, and failing to show Alec Yoder's pommel horse routine (the ONLY event he competes!), which also qualified him for the final?! Each is like a minute long. Yet I get to watch like an hour of unedited skateboarding? UGH!!!
