What I saw: Turkey's libero played great. (Chna often hit straight into her platform.) Turkey passed dimes. Turkey's setting was really accurate. (Interesting that they let their setter sprint to any location on the court and try her best to keep a ball in play...no one ever steps in her way. Period.). Karakurt got the ball rolling with hot hitting, then the middles and OH's just played such clean volleyball for most of the match.
China's passing and setting was often troubling, and they had many unforced hitting errors. They were just a mess.
It wasn't just a sweep of China. It was a beatdown. China was never really in the match.
It will be fascinating to see how both teams regroup and come out in their next matches.

I was shocked to see the results and was very excited to watch the match. But honestly, I don't think Turkey did anything outstanding except for serving tough. China played horribly. It feels that they didn't scout Turkey at all because their block and floor defense was horrible. They passed horribly and Zhu Ting only swung like 3 balls in the first two sets. China vs USA still can go either way, but if China plays like this tomorrow, USA will prevail. Yeah, but if the US plays like they did against Argentina....? Not sending the A Team to VNL is starting to look like a bad call for China. . . |

Watching the US-Argentina replay on NBCSN with KB and Sundy. KB #calledit when talking about Turkey - said they'll beat one of the teams that end up on the podium interestingly, Barnett also predicted that our women will end up on the podium, but he doesn’t know which position. |

Wow… Guidetti clearly has a way of bringing out the best of his team at the biggest tournaments. Turkey looked pretty average at the VNL as a whole. I kind of figured their OHs would turn it on for the Olympics, namely Baladin.
When I saw China was swept I thought it was gonna be one of those close sweeps, but no, it was the blowout of the Olympics thus far. I’ll watch the replay sometime but damn obviously a lot had to go wrong for China and a lot right for Turkey to get held below 50 points lol.
