Oops. USA men get outscored 16-2 at the end of the game and lose to France. Poor coaching....they came out in the third quarter and got mopped up...

Yeah, it's looking more and more likely that we've reached the Athens 2004 point of this basketball cycle.

Been really disappointing team so far Team has talent, and they should still win Gold...coaching is horrible, everyone is scared to death to criticize Popovich, not sure why...he's over rated...

Pop will take the heat for the failure of this USA team, but I'm not sure it's his fault.

Obviously the rest of the world has improved a lot over the past 20-30 years. And the talent level we're putting out isn't Dream Team level (when you had 11 of the all-time greats ...and Christian Laettner). But we should still be winning every single game we play. A few of the other teams have very good players, but none of them have 12 NBA players, and none of them have as much talent as our best players.
In the 2004 disaster we had terrible three-point shooting (31.4%, 11th out of the 12 teams) and people would just play zone. But today it wasn't even that. We have enough three-point shooting. They just collapsed down the stretch. Booker, Middleton, and Holliday must be completely gassed from playing in the finals and then flying to Japan.
I think it's possible that they get their act together once they get some rest and practice time.

The biggest problem is that this team is thrown together with very little time to get any continuity as a team. A lot of the international teams have been playing together for years.

With under a minute and the US with possession and down 2 points Kevin Durant missed THREE uncontested 3s and we kept get long rebounds and Holiday missed a corner 3. After that series the fat lady was done singing and exiting the building!!

After that series the fat lady was done singing and exiting the building!! Obviously the coach's fault. A loss with that great a talent disparity almost has to be the coach's fault. When one team has the top 5 players and 9 of the top 10 in the game? And the coach got to pick his team? How can it be anything else?
