I know they have a pretty hard job, but sometimes I think Barney is trying a little too hard. He did that when he had TheNetLive, but that was the schtick for that show.

Like I said, its his schtick. I tend to ignore him. I don't need his/their commentary to shape my feelings on a match. I can jump to the wrong conclusions all on my own He may have been harsh but I also thought Poulter was much better at the end of the tournament vs the beginning. Yes she is, I also think the whole tean was playing at a totally different level when thaty were playing in bracket play, not just Poulter. It is one thing to point out deficiencies of a player but it is another to take it to the level that he had. Critique can be constructive but nothing constructive can be garnered by saying she needs to be replaced, it is a disservice to the team, the coach, and the player. Why should his critique be constructive? He isnt on or part of the team. Im not a Barnett fan, but some of the comments here, "her family wouldn't like hearing her criticized" or this one seem a little strange. Barnett' obligation is to the audience, not the team or players. If he believes replacing a player would be the best choice for a coach, why shouldn't he say so?

He doesn't work for USA volleyball. But I bet if you asked him he'd say he could/should be a HC though lol ..... humility has never been Barneys strong point.

Also, Barney was talking about a professional athlete--not a college student. I'm not sure I see the difference between this and the NFL talking heads pining for a backup QB's playing time...
